I went and got my blood drawn for the routine tests. Few minutes later the lab called asking for my gender on my birth certificate because some paperwork said female and other said male. Does it really matter at all for the tests besides the obvious that the T/E should be in gender specific ranges? There's not like a special way they test the blood based on gender?

Why not tell them the truth about the HRT process you are going through and why you need it and let them decide on what they need to mark?

I'm pretty sure it makes no difference to the test, only how you interpret it. I always do mine as male, and my endo is fine with it.

The test report does show where my results are out of the proper ranges for male, but as long as you know what its supposed to be its not a problem.

I believe so, red / white blood cell counts ranges r slightly different among male and female. However, it shouldn't matter to the lab because the doctor that's gonna look at your results knows who u r.
