Trouble coming out as Mika/Mikayla as a name.

I have been known as Kevin my whole life,  and talking to a few old friends of mine telling them I go by Mika now feels weird.  I don't want people asking me what the f are you talking about. Your name is Kevin what do you mean you go by Mika now.   I don't want people to see me as like a split personality and ask me  I ok?  Besides from being straight blunt and tell people I am transgender... how can I explain my new nickname to people even tho its not my legal name?

Hmmm... personally, I would lead with; "I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately. Trying to redefine my life and my place in this world. Kevin is the old me. That old me I'm transforming it into something new, and with this rebirth, I want to try a new name. Please respect my journey of self discovery and call me Mika."

Or something like that.

Yeah I do feel I have transitioned a lot has changed about me,  and I know the old me is gone.  I guess I'll  have to start telling people to call me Mika or Mikayla.
