I've always loved chocolate but I love it even more since HRT. I tend to avoid candy because of calories but chocolate is something I have no self control with. Chocolate peanut butter cups and cordial cherries, forget it! Once when I was watching TV I was eating cordial cherries and I was totally horrified when I realized I had eaten the entire box of 8! That had to have been like a million calories. I've also scarfed half a bag of the reeses miniatures before.  And I always buy chocolates the day after valentines day when it's like 75% off. Chocolate can also improve my bad moods. When I get in a snarky mood my dad and brother give me chocolate. Tristan has started doing that too. The weird thing is they always seem to have it on hand. I sometimes wonder if they keep stashes of chocolate just to give me when I'm in a bad mood. But I'm not THAT moody. At least I don't think I am.........

So what do you think about chocolate?

I can't stand it. It makes me nauseous. The smell alone makes me gag. Although the same could be said for almost all sweet things. But chocolate especially is, to me, utterly repugnant.

I think I must've been born with enlarged canines rather than a sweet tooth.

The dark chocolate cordial cherries are MINE! 4 posts above yours Stephanie I laid claim to them first so everyone hand them over. You shouldn't have thrown all your fruit at passerbys. Now you'll have to buy some more to go with your chocolate.

Hugs,

I've always loved chocolate.  HRT makes it even more amazing.

I've always liked wine as well. When I came out a friend commented "that explains the wine and chocolate thing"

I stopped drinking alcohol quite a few years ago.  And I looooove chocolate after starting HRT.  So I'll just have to eat more chocolate to offset the lack of wine.

I've been eating way too much chocolate lately.  This week I finished off 33 chocolate bars since Monday.  I need to get that back under control. :-(

One year one of my customers gave me a box of cherry cordials for Chrismas. They had a gold box and looked expensive. I couldn't wait to try one that night after dinner. They were beautiful dark chocolate and I popped one in my mouth. OMG, it tasted just vile! I thought they were rotten or something and spit it into a napkin. My dad started looking at the box and then started laughing. They were alcoholic cherry cordials. Alcoholic! WHY????? How could anyone ruin cherry cordials like that? That's just wrong.

Oh my, I haven't had liquor filled chocolates in years.  There was a fad back in the 80's.  Problem is that some would crystalise  next to the chocolate.  And after you've eaten enough of them they taste fine :)

When I was a kid back in the late 60's my grandmother used to make big batches of rum balls at Christmas.  They were heavy on the rum and I always thought they were pretty good.

Rum balls, yummy!

When my first wife and I would fly up to Portland to visit her parents there was a bakery across from the Weinhart's Brewery who's name currently escapes me.

While I wanted to go to the brewery, she told me the place was the brewery's annex.  After a few rum balls I didn't care.

I've eaten a rum ball before. It wasn't as bad as the alcoholic cordials but it was still nasty.

One of my mom's clients gave her alcoholic chocolates for Christmas one year. They were individual little chocolate bottles filled with some kind of alcoholic filling. Each little bottle was wrapped in foil of different colors. They were really cute. The person who gave them to her was Swiss so it might be a European thing. But I never imagined alcoholic cherry cordials. They looked like high end chocolates too. Yuck!

These bottle chocolates were the ones I was referring to.  Don't see much of them anymore.
