Anyone have any recommendations for online wig stores in Canada?  I'd prefer not to have to deal with cross-border shipping.

There's only one in-person wig store anywhere near where I live, and they don't have  huge selection.  I have one human hair wig that's fairly dressy, but, since I am going full-time sometime soon, I need a few more that are suitable for everyday wear: comfortable, short-ish, practical, and not too expensive.  Going out of the house wigless will not be an option due to androgenic alopecia (a.k.a. male pattern baldness).

Synthetic might be an option, but I don't want it to look trashy.  I want to look like what I am: a lady in her 50s or 60s.  (Okay, I'm 62.)  I'd be happy to hear any recommendations, including brand names.

One possibility is that your wig shop could special order what you requires. Long story but I knew a wig suppler that provided wigs for all the local shops and they had a massive inventory. Just their halloween wig collection covered an entire page with well over 100 wigs. Normally you can't buy directly from the supplier but order time should be pretty short.

There are a lot of options for the serious wig wearer these days. I'm not a Canadian, but I can offer some good general advice. While it's nice to have your wig source close by, it's not really necessary. One thing I've found is that good quality human hair wigs that suit your personal needs are not easy to find. So it's often worth it to travel a good distance-- maybe even an overnight trip a couple of times a year-- to get a good quality wig.

A less known secret about human hair wigs is that the big name wig companies don't really like them much because synthetics are easier to produce and more profitable. Thus the human hair quality on major label wigs vary greatly and is often pretty poor. Find a well reputed wig seller (maker?) who deals mainly in human hair wigs. Wigs from these dealers are often lower priced and better quality than the big labels.

Online shopping for wigs is something to consider, but it takes being a very savvy shopper. I've bought good wigs on eBay, for instance, but you have to understand what you're buying and avoid the low quality stuff that constitutes most of what you see. When you buy online you'll probably need to either take it to a wig shop for fitting/styling/trim or learn to do that yourself. Thanks to YouTube it's really not difficulty to become your own wig stylist, but it is very time consuming.
