Hi Dolls,

After almost an year of soul searching, I have realized my gender transition will require rib removal. I initially went going back and forth, but the look I want and can't get over will need removing the lower ribs(10, 11, 12) maybe 9 too if not risky.

I am going to think for one or two week more before booking the surgery. I would really appreciate if anyone can share their experience and if they were successful in achieving their goal shape.

I am 5 weeks postop from abdomen liposuction done as part of bbl and current waist is a little less than 24(I still have a little fat). Rib removal goal  is to achieve something between 22 to 23(without looking bony, at a healthy weight) moving the waist a bit up, increase the distance between rib cage and upper hip bone. I want a extremely defined waist countour but also soft looking.

Would be nice to find a fellow sister that is also interested, maybe book our dates together.

Thanks

I was advised against it.  It's risky, it leaves scars, and the recovery is horrendous.  Have you tried corset waist training first to push in the floating ribs and displace the internal organs?  It works if you are diligent about it.  That plus lipo and an abdominoplasty should achieve a more feminine waistline.

Depending on your genetics, you may put fat on the upper leg and lower hip region as well as on the rear. It may not produce as much shape as a genetic woman because the bone may not be out as far but you should give HRT a chance before considering a surgery of that nature. I was pretty surprised when I looked in the mirror and saw the change that was happening. Unfortunately I didn't do much in the rear but the sides look good.

I would pass on rib removal. They're there to protect vital organs.  And help you breathe...

Have you tried waist training with a real tight-lacing corset, Ypsf09? Contact me if you need information.

Another voice saying everything I've read about cosmetic rib removal is a nightmare, and honestly corsets training could get you there too, it's also dangerous though, so just do your research, and take your time, don't try to go all the way overnight.

Thanks  Clara Kay, Dena, Harley Quinn, Rachel, Daniellekai for your response. It's greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you won't judge me on my desires/body goals.

So the thing is I am 6 weeks post op from bbl and quite happy with the results (23.7 inch waist, 39.5 hip/butt, 36.5 inch bust and 27 inch under bust). While I am very happy with my current shape, my goal is to achieve something like this(her waist is 18 and I am thinking more like 22 but similar countour):

https://matome.naver.jp/odai/2142517526080444801/2142517958686038303

I feel like my problem is a shorter torso, less distance between ribs and hip bone which only rib removal can help with.

I have friends that use corsets but it requires almost spending half a day in them and for several years to achieve results which I hear are temporary.

Anyways I am quite brave when it comes to surgery and the one other girl who had this done said rib removal was easier than bbl.

Clarakay and DAniellekai,

Did you guys know someone that had this done and felt recovery was nightmare/horrendous? Do you guys think it's even worse than SRS recovery?

No judgement, just suggestions so you can hear both sides. But wow that's a small waist. Looks like back problems. Woof!

The woman in Clara Kay's post is Pixee Fox, a body modification artist who deliberately does not want to look like anyone else in the world.  Please note that extremes of body modification have medical risks one should consider might be appropriate.  A rib resection is not reversible, and not without complications.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

Have you tried corset training? I have been using a waist trainer for like 3 years now and it has really reduced my rib profile. I strongly recommend avoiding rib removal if possible.

Thanks ClaraKay, Michelle and Scarletred for responding.

Clarakay/Michelle,

I was able to actually connect with Pixie Fox and she advised that it's actually easier than bbl. I respect Pixie for her body goals and being so brave and open. However my aesthetic is a bit different than hers. I was able to have a skype consultation with her surgeon too and he said it would look different on me since I am not as short as her. I am still skeptical so I have a in person consult scheduled for first week of may.

Scarletred,

I have tried corsets in the past and that's where I got this idea of rib removal. However I gave up because it was too much work and the results disappeared in half hour. The smallest I could go with corset on was 20 inch, although my goal waist is 22(without corset). Also I want the vertical distance between lower ribs and upper hip bone increased too. How much reduction were you able to achieve and how long did it take?

I wore a corset for a few years a long time ago for medical reasons. Before that my waist was around 75 to 78 cm. By the end it went down to about 64 cm bound and about 67 cm unbound. My height is about 185 cm. (One inch is exactly 2.54 cm)

I didn't rely on the corset to bind or brace me, but tried to view it as a feedback mechanism that reminded me to maintain good posture and to strengthen the muscles that pull everything in. As the corset started to feel looser over time I'd tighten the laces.

Now, many years later my rib cage still remains a bit smaller than it was at the time but my waist is back to around 75 cm. I know from experience that I'd need at least a month to shrink it back to 71 cm even with fairly rigorous exercise.

I'm fairly certain rib removal can give faster and more dramatic results if the cost and risks are acceptable. That said, for a truly tiny waist I believe diet and exercise will also be necessary.

I'm curious about who does this other than Eppley in Indianapolis and what the cost are. Most surgeons that I've spoken to push back on that procedure.
Seriously, I'm just winging it like everyone else. Sometimes it works, other times -- not so much. HRT 2003 - FFS|Orch 2005 - GCS 2017 - No Regrets EVER!

http://aaronstonemd.com/procedures/body-contouring/rib-removal-remove-ribs/

Dr Aarone does it too, however he is not as versatile as Dr Eppley

http://designerbodyz.in/doctor.html

Dr Parag Telang does it too and I had seen him discuss rib removal in some youtube video. According to him there is nothing dangerous/extreme about rib 9,10,11,12 removal just a bit more painful than other body contouring surgeries.

I am meeting Dr Eppley on 5/18 in person and at this point very certain i will book too.

Don't you think that hip implants are maybe just a tad bit more reasonable? My waist is just under 25, and sometimes it irks me how my teeny-tiny butt (36) doesn't look gigantic relative to my midsection.

I've accepted that I'll either have to gain weight, which always goes to the butt for me, or even invest in hip implants. But rib excision is definitely probably extreme and risky.

Hip implants require more maintenance and may require replacement long term, plus I don't need them because my hips are same as my shoulders. If I got them, I would look pear shaped which is not very elegant and can look matronly.

this is what I like(illusion of hips due to very small waist) which would require torso slimming with rib removal.

Plus know that rib removal is done very often in nose and other reconstruction surgeries.

Yes, rib removal does happen in these situations, however, it's only 1, or possibly 2, that are removed.

You seek a body goal that the majority of cis women never attain and seem willing to go to more extremes than most cis women to achieve it. Some of the examples you've given don't even look human. The blonde in the second pic? She's not normal looking at all and I know many who think that. Intensive and specific therapy is what I'd suggest - not surgery..

Sorry if I offended you by posting those images. I was just trying to give an idea of the female body shape that I like and want.

As far as the female body shape goes, it comes in all different forms including the ones I posted. Although they are less common but not inhuman but often the ones who don't have it(but would want it) like to think so.

sorry i am not a fan of body shaming just trying to get technical details on a procedure that is common in the trans community.

This woman has a 20 inch waist.  She's also very thin.  I think there's a point beyond which a tiny waist becomes unattractive.  Of course, beauty is subjective.  It's good that you are trying to learn as much as possible before proceeding further.
