Deep divisions run through the GLBT community after the passage of a federal bill that protects gays, lesbians and bisexuals but not transgender persons. Following heated debate within the very community it sought to protect, the U. S. House voted 235-184 Nov. 7 to approve the first federal ban on job discrimination based on sexual orientation.
