Suture lines healing and pain

So yes, healing is going well I guess, I'm a bit surprised at how much pain is coming from the suture lines right now and at 3 weeks out I'd certainly hoped that the incisions would be substantially healed by now but that's definitely not the case.

Wittenberg has given me a good regimen of 50% hydrogen peroxide rinses and lining them with gauze to absorb the excess exudate and it's all clearly ok, just not as far along as I'd hoped.

What are others' experiences with time for incisions to get to the point of "healed over"? And what was the track of pain levels?

I'm eating well for healing (lots of protein and good fats, a bit of carbs) and again my internal healing seems to be mostly done, I have little or no pain in the neovaginal canal and dilation has been easy so far and not painful.

  Good to hear you are healing as at least the doctor expected and that you are taking care of yourself. I can't help you with your question but I did want to say hi and let you know I'm glad things are going well.

I'm 3 months post ffs, but I also had GCS 15+ years ago (if that's what we're referring to), and the suture lines are raised slightly ridges of fun pain still.  I get the needle red hot poking stabs too as nerves regrew.  Its a fun and long time healing you're in for... As far as pain control goes, just keep in mind it will hurt as nerves regrow, and that's a good thing.  Personally if its too bad I have some strong pain meds but usually excedrin does it fine for me.

Triple antibiotic ointment or bacitracin to the suture lines helps prevent problems & reduce localized inflammation. Hope some of this helps.

Doreen, my surgeon was very explicit not to use bacitracin or similar, saying it can trap bacteria. I will eventually start using vitamin E but not until the suture line is fully closed.

I had a look back over RubyAliza's posts from her procedure with Dr Satterwhite and felt better seeing that my recovery is close to lockstep with what Ruby's was. I don't seem to have any necrosis going on, just lots of protein buildup which has been a factor from the first week in.

So continuing to dig in and look for healing to continue. One day at a time :-)
