ANDROCUR (Cyproterone acetate)

Hi all!

So when I first started HRT I was on Spiro, but when my endo took over for my GP, she changed me to Androcur due to my blood pressure being too low.

I love Androcur because it is a great T blocker, but what I have noticed is extra body hair here and there. It's soft hair, but its dark. I'm very fair so it does tend to stand out. I have started lasering basically my whole body to take care of it. It's an expensive process but my stance on transitioning is very proactive, I don't want to rely on hormones and wait for something that may never occur.

That said... Has anyone else on Androcur experienced this? And did the hair eventually disappear or become completely vellus on it's own? If so, how long did it take?

Either way, let me know what your experience has been with body hair and being on Androcur please, I'm super curious. Spiro was super annoying with it's side effects (always peeing, dangerous blood pressure levels, and not to mention it didn't block my T as well as Androcur does) but it did seem to do the trick with body hair.

Strangely now, I have hair growing in places I didn't even have hair pre-HRT!

Androcur is not available in the United States, so most of us cannot comment.

A quick review of medical literature does not mention any possibility of additional hair growth on the body.
Your soft hair growth is either due to something else or you are a very unusual person who has a side effect that few if any have every experienced.

I'm on Androcur since almost 17months and I didn't notice any new hair.

My body hair grow slowed considerable and it's much lighter. I had a gorilla back and now it feel hairless to the touch. Only when I have a look at the mirror sideways I can see that there is still some hair.

If I compare my arm to my daughters arms it's similar and sometimes I have the impression that my adult daughter has more hair than I have.

Still not 100% happy, but which woman is that?

An expensive process that may end up costing you even more as hairs can regrow years after the last sessions, results are often not permanent and areas where there are vellus hairs may sometimes be stimulated by laser to grow darker, thicker hairs. Be careful where the laser is applied.

That said... Has anyone else on Androcur experienced this?

No. Quite the opposite actually.

I've been taking 10 mg of Androcur for like 3 months and can't notice any such thing like hair growth at all.

I can confirm that Androcur brings down the T Level severely, compared to Bicalutamide or Spiro.

Androcur is the BEST ❤️
I'm taking it since 2008 and my body is soft
Shame it's not available in the USA it's way better than spiro
