I'm 36 and started T about a month ago. I'm using cernos gel right now, but would like to get on injectable for convenience and a faster transition.

So far, my voice has dropped some, but it sounds more like the morning after a wild night of partying than a true masculine sounding voice. It's broke a couple times. Usually around people. That said, it's not very consistent. Whenever I open my mouth, I'm not sure what's going to come out.

My junk is significantly bigger. I started very small - so much so that male sex partners used to point it out to me - so the growth isn't enough to measure in a meaningful, scientific way, but I'd guess I'm about four times larger than when I started.

I knew going into this that I needed to go to the gym to make the most of T's effects. My cardio still sucks, but I'm lifting as much as I could in high school/college. I'm seeing gradual improvements in upper body strength, but not lower.

My sleep patterns are less regular - more waking up, longer to fall asleep, more often hot at night. That said, I still seem to have more physical energy. Mental energy...eh, about the same as ever.

My drive has returned to the level I had in my early twenties. In some ways, it's intrusive, especially at work, but after several years of blah, I'm glad to have it.

No facial or body hair yet, but it's definitely too early for that.

I wasn't 100% sure a couple of months ago but it looks like I have an Adam's apple developing in the larynx area. It was nearly completely flat before.

I do not think age matters much as far as achieving good results for FtM individuals.  In MtF individuals it gets harder for estrogen to overcome the effects of Testosterone the older you get. But testosterone is going to masculinize you no matter what your age.

James,

Welcome to the site.

Thanks so much for jumping in and sharing your experiences. I think your voice will be a gradual thing. I know a young man who started T in September and his voice started breaking and dropping in November and has continued to. I think it is a time thing.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to look through them, please take a moment:

60 here. On low dose pellet T for just a few months. See my other post for deets on levels, etc. Oh, and I've been menopausal for 12 years.

I have experienced significant bottom growth and a sex drive that's off the charts. Seriously. OMG. Unrelated to that, I'm also sleeping much better. Nothing else is that noticeable, but that's fine as I'm NB/transmasculine and am looking for modest impact.

Bottom line? I don't know that it matters how old one is, at least for some things.  ;D

(I'm copying parts of this post from another thread I wrote on, I hope its okay.)

I'm 55 and after living androgynously for many years, I didn't know there were others like me or even what I was called until three years ago.  After a bad breakup and a move to the East Coast, I gave myself  a solid year of thinking things through before I finally realised that I needed to transition.

As of now, I have been on T for a little over 7 months.

I have bottom growth, the facial hair of a 13 year old boy (can't wait to "grow up!") as well as light body, arms and leg hair.  My voice was all over the place until recently, it seems to be starting to stablise some, but it could be wishful thinking on my part. 😉  My upper body is definitly broader and my shoulders are wider.  My facial structure is more masculine, so I'm told.  Maybe because I see my face every day I can't tell, but my genderfluid boyfriend says he sees them.

I know I'm making more red blood cells as I had a bit of trouble with my high blood pressure for a short while, but once my pcp doubled one of my meds, it  seems to have resolved for the most part.  (It was confirmed by the cardiologist after stress testing and whatnot that I'm okay.)

I admit I'm pretty sedimentary, but now that my blood pressure seems to be under control and I'm no longer getting dizzy or having palpitations, I can go back to doing my exercises, (as little as I do, that is!)

My confidence level, which was always high is now through the roof!  I've never had any real body dysphoria until recently, but I'm chalking up that this recent change is because I've decided to start the search for info about top surgery and the search for a surgeon relatively close to me.  If it wasn't for society, I'd wear nothing but swimtrunks to the beach even now, but currently having a D chest, I'd rather not get arrested.

I'm really glad to find a thread with men that are older than 30 as I was originally looking for one for those of us that are 50+ and transitioning.  If there is one, feel free to point it out to me, as I know those of us that are 50+ have unique issues to deal with.
