(I'm copying parts of this post from another thread I wrote on, I hope its okay.)
I'm 55 and after living androgynously for many years, I didn't know there were others like me or even what I was called until three years ago. After a bad breakup and a move to the East Coast, I gave myself a solid year of thinking things through before I finally realised that I needed to transition.
As of now, I have been on T for a little over 7 months.
I have bottom growth, the facial hair of a 13 year old boy (can't wait to "grow up!") as well as light body, arms and leg hair. My voice was all over the place until recently, it seems to be starting to stablise some, but it could be wishful thinking on my part. 😉 My upper body is definitly broader and my shoulders are wider. My facial structure is more masculine, so I'm told. Maybe because I see my face every day I can't tell, but my genderfluid boyfriend says he sees them.
I know I'm making more red blood cells as I had a bit of trouble with my high blood pressure for a short while, but once my pcp doubled one of my meds, it seems to have resolved for the most part. (It was confirmed by the cardiologist after stress testing and whatnot that I'm okay.)
I admit I'm pretty sedimentary, but now that my blood pressure seems to be under control and I'm no longer getting dizzy or having palpitations, I can go back to doing my exercises, (as little as I do, that is!)
My confidence level, which was always high is now through the roof! I've never had any real body dysphoria until recently, but I'm chalking up that this recent change is because I've decided to start the search for info about top surgery and the search for a surgeon relatively close to me. If it wasn't for society, I'd wear nothing but swimtrunks to the beach even now, but currently having a D chest, I'd rather not get arrested.
I'm really glad to find a thread with men that are older than 30 as I was originally looking for one for those of us that are 50+ and transitioning. If there is one, feel free to point it out to me, as I know those of us that are 50+ have unique issues to deal with.
