First off, I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful Memorial Day.  To my fellow vets, you're all appreciated!

So my doctor finally got me approved through the pharmacy for "off formulary" meds.  I'm pretty stoked!  After 5 months of pushing the issue, countless blood tests, seemingly endless dosage changes and intervals changes of my medications...  It's finally approved!  They're adding Prometrium to my Estrodiol, Spiro, and Finasteride hormone treatmet.  Woo Hoo!

The only down side is that I have yet to convince the VA that they don't need to keep mailing out all of my new prescriptions...  For this one, I'd drop everything and make the 40 mile drive to pick them up in person!  I mean, who mails ->-bleeped-<- on a holiday weekend!  Don't they know that I've been waiting for approval to try this new addition to my Hormone Therapy since January!?!?

However, I'm super stoked about the prospects!  Nice to get some good news after getting the phone call from the laser clinic that their machine is down and I have to cancel my treatment in June.  I guess I was too metal for their machine and broke it on my last visit... lol

Thank you too, hon. I would have driven the forty miles in a heartbeat, too. Anyway, congratulations on the Christmas Memorial present!  :)

Hugs, Devlyn

Congrats Harley. Your tenacity has gotten you the real deal as it were.

I just started medroxyprogesterone. When did you notice the negative effects? My endo will prescribe prometrium, but the monthly cost is an issue.

A lifetime of depression and repressed emotions is nothing more than existence. I for one want to live now not just exist!

I had major issues with it the first week and it progressively worsened over the first month and stayed bad for 3 months and they decided to take me off it. Took 4 days to feel myself again. It only happens to some. It's a good drug, but it's not for everyone. It does what's advertised... but it wasn't good for me.

I put on 30 lbs with the medroxyprogesterone in about a month. Like half in my gut... never had gut before. It was horrifying. I did get some breast density increase and a little on my hips, but mainly a fat bloated belly. Some major depression, a mood swing that basically only swung downward... or enraged me. Nasty side effects...

This is a trail run for me and i may have similar issues. So it's trial and error. I'm hoping it's going to be here by Tuesday So I can find out for myself.
