Dr. Suporn Retirement Announcment

"Just got an email telling me dr suporn intends to retire at the end of 2019!

The beginning of the email from sophie says:

Dear Client,
I am writing to you and to all clients scheduled for surgery in 2017 or 2018, as well as those who have already undergone surgery in 2017, to notify you that Dr Suporn has announced his intention to retire from full time surgery by the end of 2019. Starting this year he will begin to transfer his knowledge of his technique to new surgeons to join him at the Clinic, where he will take on the role of "professor and adviser" rather than "doer".

Thank you for posting that notice. That is my intended surgeon but am not ready financially so I will have to see what happens. I guess we knew it would happen sometime.

There's still openings in 2019 for surgery done by Dr Suporn, but I don't suppose they will last long. You'd need the 20% deposit within 30 days and one letter by 6 weeks before surgery (I think).

actually you have 21 days unless special arrangements are made. I filled out their patient package and sent it in. To my shock my chosen date was available and reserved in my name!! Now to discuss with my wife. Ouch, it may not go well.

How long did it take you to get a response? After speaking with my parents I got the go ahead to book in before he retires! Now I'm just waiting for a reply after filling in that long pdf.

I filled out the long pdf early in the morning and received a reply at 3:25PM that day which is amazing because it was 3:25AM there. I have replied to them a few times regarding minor issues and they have replied about the same time each day.

One thing that surprised me, but shouldn't have, is that these 24 slots for 2019 come at a premium. They are about $1500 higher than 2017/2018 pricing. The "team" pricing is considerably lower but I would rather have a surgeon who needs less "practice"

Well, they replied. And I'm booked in! I feel relieved and happy.
Just need to ask my psychiatrist for the letter now. I'm sure he will be happy to write it.

You're right Dana, I noticed the price was more than I was quoted a few months ago. It's 625,000 Thai Baht. Nonetheless, I'm sure it's going to be worth every cent. I'm also curious about the team pricing though - what was it exactly?

Even if I was interested in going with the 'Suporn Team' I won't be ready for surgery that soon. I'm hoping to get FFS and VFS beforehand. I want SRS to be my final surgery, aside from a possible BA.

I also noticed in 48 hours all of the spots for January '19 and more than half of the spots for February '19 are taken. Sheeeesh!

Suporn will be doing what his mentor and teacher Dr Preecha (Preecha Aesthetic Institute now now know as PAI) has done by setting up a more commercial clinic and having a team that can do his surgeries. Dr Preecha has Dr Sutin and Dr Burin for srs. Both are excellent and I'm sure Dr Suporn will have trained good surgeons. This should make srs bookings much quicker. Remember, srs is not rocket science surgery, its a practice makes  perfect senario.

The team pricing went down over time as Dr. Suporn was less involved with it. Provisional numbers went 565, 525 and 450 over the years shown on the chart.

As warlockmaker noted it isn't rocket science but there are plenty of places for things to go less than expected. I had plastic surgery twice many years back and the scale tilted more towards the practice end than the perfect so with something like this I would rather have a surgeon who has done 2500 than 5.

January 23rd! It's sooo far away but I'm sure time will fly. We will most likely meet seeing as we need to be there for a month. I'm excited/nervous thinking about it.

Actually, it does require some skill.. It's not a procedure I'd want an orthopedic, vascular or thoracic surgeon to perform on me, it requires skills they don't have. Hell, it's actually more complicated than an organ transplant from a strictly surgical perspective. There's more to it than just "practice makes perfect".

Based on my professional life I'm a strong believer in practice makes perfect, but only when someone is trying to improve. I've seen how the different approach's to work make a vast gulf in ability over the years. Those who don't bother and just go to work to fill in time and earn money get left far behind. I'm not in the medical field, but I assume its the same for surgeons, and I think Dr Suporn was one of of the great ones.

I like researching things a lot and trying to pick a surgeon bothers me a lot because there's so little factual information on any of them. For me at least, the more information you have the less the less the risk - not of anything going wrong, but of choosing a surgeon you wouldn't have if only you'd known more.

One of the things I've always like about Suporn is that there's a lot of independent information about his work (for better and worse, there are a few complaints). There's also a number of post-op photo's, so I don't a have to rely so much on others opinions. Even so its not enough, but what can you do? I can only hope that there's more known about his new surgeons as quickly as possibly, but I don't think Suporn really cares about this kind of thing so I'm not expecting much.

They have changed their revision policy. Anyone who's had SRS with Suporn already should have a look at it if they have any thoughts of having a revision in the future.

Thanks to Brooke for sharing this news. I was able to pull the funds together and received confirmation this morning that my deposit arrived and am fully confirmed for surgery 1.15.2019!

A few hoops to still jump through personally before I can go but without a date it was useless. Many thanks to all for the information you share every day!

I'm happy to help out. I saw that announcement and was thinking darn! I probably would not have the funds together before he's completely booked, but I'm happy that other Susan's Girls can benefit.
