Hey all. So this is a post just to clear my mind. I got a new job last month and something has been bothering me. I find that at my new place i am kind of treated differently. Some people are super nice and chill and treat me great, others seem like they just put up with me. I am the type of girl who will come in early, sometimes 30 minutes before my shift (without clocking in for that time) just to make sure the place is running for show time. I have been told by some who clearly like me that I am a good worker as i am always doing my work quickly and when we got no orders i am always cleaing the fridge, freezer, stocking stuff, cutting stuff, ect on my own inititive, or if I am all done my station and such i will ask other people in their station what i can do to help them. i admit i have gotten credit for my inintiive. I even offer to stay later past my shift (again with me willingly going off the clock to not use up money). Yet, i find that some at the top... well, when they have a bad day i seem to find myself in the cross hairs more then others. I find i get not nessisarly snapped at, but sternly given the cold voice for any mess up. One example, i was told to put down a large fry by this other worker and it was busy so i did so, but it was not for a large fry but a large poutine which has a different portion. Well i kind of explained this to them when they saw all the rest of the fries left but I was still given a the cold voice about double checking... which i did. That same night, two workers had rides and the MOD was there and approved them and i said i had no issues staying behind to clean what little left there was (at this point a sink, a table side and something else). I was repeadly thanked for staying behind and ''picking up their slack'' only to be told today by another MOD that i had no authority to let other people go home.. again, even tho i didnt tell them to leave, just if they had a ride waiting for them i had no issue staying behind.. and the other MOD was standing right there when i told her (MOD) that.
This and just more subtle things. Like when one person who has been there long and makes way more mess ups then me does something like wash the dishes somewhat quick they get priased, even tho not too long later we find there is still grease and other residue left on the stuff they washed.. where as i am quicker then that guy, wash things far more thoroughly and power it i never get thanked for something like that. I make sure there is no grease or even food residue on anything. I never get thanked for coming in early, rarley get thanked for sticking around later (again, doing this on my own time not the companies) but if i make any mess up or percived to mess up i hear about it in an instant. Maybe i am just sensitive but this bothers me, makes me wonder if its due to being trans or just my luck.
