Even if the facts don't change one uninvolved person's mind, I personally found it reassuring in finally facing my personal truth. As these facts become more widely available maybe it will help another trans person deal with the stigma religion puts on us.

The people you want to reach think in terms of dogma; they do not think in terms of facts.  So presenting facts will have no impact.

This has also been my experience when dealing with these types of people. I had one guy tell me that he considered peer review to be nothing more than a group of like minded people agreeing with each other. Another dismissed the findings of multiple scientific papers published in reputable journals by saying that the Illuminati must have funded the research, so the results were fudged. The devil was somehow behind it, and it was all a big conspiracy as far as he was concerned.

I'd make a comment the first time Facebook friends posted a hateful trans/homophobic or racist meme, then message them privately and ask them not to do it again.
If they did it again, I'd tell them in a private message that I found such posts offensive and that I would have to defriend them. Invariably..even with my closest friends from college..the person would mock me and make sneering racist/trans/homophobic comment, so I'd defriend them.

In a couple of months, my Facebook page was a great deal quieter and there were more photos of baby ducks and kittens.

I also used to try to engage the Trumpites, but found that they don't care about facts, or the damage they cause. Straight, white and might is right-or they fight!
