To those of you walking in Pride Parades, kudos. Unfortunately due to my heart problems it will be too hot for me to participate. Anticipated temperature mid 90's. I'd last less than ten minutes. It is especially important to speak out and tear down the barriers. No not literally silly's. That will only get police attention.  What we are asking for are not transgender rights, we are asking for Human Rights.  Something most white Christian's take for granted. All their prejudice is based on a sentence in the Old Testament. And if you look a little further within Leviticus it talks about inbreeding and loving thy neighbor. But hey. They have strongly held religious beliefs. I pray some day the children that come after us no longer have to march, for God given rights. Have fun, be safe and accept my hug for your courageousness.

Dawn,

Thanks for your post.
I believe you're one of the first I've read making reference to religious beliefs.
That strikes a cord. I was raised in a very religious family, and we still are.
I considered myself Christian, I do believe in God.  When I was younger I didn't know what to make with my desire s to dress and present as female.
I now know better and consider myself to be transgender (a very closeted one)
I'm in therapy, and have been for a while.
...the point is that I'm having a very hard time reconcilling the two: being transgender and hearing the doctrine people at most Christian churches preach.[emoji30] [emoji31]

I was much the same and taught Adult Sunday Bible Study classes in a very conservative denomination.

In the end I was unable to reconcile the two.  The mental gymnastics required caused me an extreme amount of distress and drove me to the brink of wanting to die twice.  So I abandoned one of the two things and have been much happier since.

Love is not obedience, conformity, or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent upon authority, punishment, or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness, freely given by a healthy, unafraid human being....  - Dan Barker

I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

This was not meant as a religious screed but rather highlighting the differences of those seeking rights and those that have them. Every anti LGBTQ legislation has been for religious beliefs. Until recently Americans did not have their hard fought rights taken away on a whim. The climate has changed as the fanatics have taken over. I wanted to applaud the efforts of many working to change the dialog.

Not related to religious stuff--more about being a person with a disability who can't physically march:

I hooked up with my FTM support group and hung out with them at their fundraising booth during my local pride parade.  I helped them earn money, I got a place in the shade to sit all day, and everybody was happy.  Just a thought.
