So tomorrow I go home from having GRS and today I started dilating and what not and im honestly so stressed and Im curious as does this get better?
I know that everything down there is swollen and it will go down but it look so scary and i couldn't even at first tell where do I insert the dilator because everything just looks so big and Im scared when I go home that I will mess something up and do something wrong and I talked to the doctor about this and he tried comforting me saying that its hard todo something wrong just let your body guide you while inserting is that true? is it just go with whatever happens in the moment?
Another thing is Im experiencing weird nerve pains in my legs and im scared that will never go away and just altogether every time I move I feel like something is drilling out of me or like some weird pinch does that ever stop? I know a lot of these questions most would say ask your doctor but my doctor hasn't gone through this and someone who sees this is bond to have gone through this process. The ups and downs with emotions they warn you about is definitely however true

Certainly your concerns are understandable but stop worrying. It will get better and it does.

You've just been through major surgery and it takes time to recover. I know this can be scary but in another few days or a week you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Dilating can be tough at first but you just have to soldier on and do it because these first few months after surgery are the most important and you'll really be sorry if you don't follow your surgeon's instructions.

Your body has been through trauma from the surgery and the anesthesia. Ups and downs are expected and normal and during the next few weeks you may feel a lot of things that may come and go. As your swelling goes down and as you start to heal, you'll look less like raw hamburger and you'll get more feeling. When your nerves really start to reconnect, it's not unusual to experience even more weird feelings but you body will get back to normal.

Well, new normal but then you're going to be really happy and that all the pain and effort has been worth it.

Oh hell yes it get's better. Way better.

It's a serious shock to the system and an ugly painful one at that. It's easy, and I'd say typical, to slip into post-surgery depression as the healing process lingers on. I think surgeons do a poor job at really preparing us for how invasive and traumatic this surgery can be on our bodies and how long it really takes to heal. If you don't believe me check out a 3d anatomy site and look at all the nerves and tissue they rearranged on your new kitty. You'll have a better understanding of what your body just experienced.

Nothing you mentioned is unusual, and there's a lot more to come too. The swelling will start to disappear as well as the bruising. Believe it or not, that mangled mess you see now won't look anything like that in other 3 or 4 weeks. Just let yourself heal. Don't try to do anything that will stress your incisions and increase swelling.

Ice is your friend.

Don't freak when the brown oozy stuff start either.

Stay positive!

Yes it gets better, I'm 9 weeks post op and things improved very slowly for my first 6 weeks and then I turned a corner, I shed the last of the old skin, swelling went down and my energy increased.

For dilation, about the 3rd day after I'd left I was having trouble for the first time inserting the dilator, panicking a little and solved it simply by inserting a finger into my vaginal canal as a guide for the dilator.

Various shooting pains are normal, mine increased for a few weeks and are just now really subsiding.

Hugs, for one fairly detailed account, see my post on surgery with Dr Wittenberg
