So, what can you do to help?

This: Show up for transgender seniors by submitting a comment by email to HHS and urging it to reinstate the question regarding gender identity.

Below is a sample comment that we encourage you to adapt and personalize. You can submit written comments by email to OIRA_submission@omb.eop.gov, Attn: OMB Desk Officer for ACL or by fax at 202-395-5806. The comment period ends on July 24, 2017.

I just sent the suggested e-mail in to the HHS - it only took two minutes.  Sophie (an older transgendered American!)

This might be just a part of the Trump administration's attack on transgender issues in general.  Ignore or bury the facts and claim there's no problem.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

I DID NOT think it was an attack at all.  Sorry, just don't.  MILITARY MATTERS ARE serious AND unique!  It is under study was my understanding.  A decision will be made, and we move on.

In life, one does not get whatever they want, all the time.  Life is not fair or just.  Life is a battle.  If you want everything from the govt or others, sorry, you will never be happy.

Regarding bathrooms.  My therapist and I were chatting and she said we are proud by the way that we have "all gender" bathrooms.

I stated that is all we ever needed but our govt got involved and screwed it up so bad, everyone was mad.

SO THERE we supposedly won, but lost.  And by the way, if you think it (OBAMAS MANDATORY NIGHTMARE) was a win for TG people you are wrong IMHO!

People down south and around the country would have beat the crap out of us because we walked in on their wife's and kids.

Having lived throughout the USA, WE LOST THAT BATTLE even though It was a fake, false and very dangerous battle that put everyone on the losing side.  And would have triggered violence like we have never seen.

WE need to win, we need to win by moving forward, not by putting us in false and very dangerous situations that would end terribly for all.

I know others will hate me for what i say, but I want equality not violence and hostility for no reason.

My counselors response (a die hard liberal said it all to me!  We need to be careful what we ask for because we need safety for all people.

And by the way, no one gives a [emoji232]'s behind if I go to the bathroom by my self!  They would take more than offense when I go into their wife and CHILDRENS bathroom and could be a predator.  It is a dangerous deal for all.  I have 8 children.  I would not want that situation EVER!

Vanny. ( hoping this is in the right section)

The government does not care about seniors period. Medicare should be totally free with not needing supplemental insurance. Medicaid is totally free so why do seniors need supplemental insurance and have to pay for it?

I agree with you! I just spent the morning with my elderly mother helping her run her errands and get her groceries, etc.  I go to her apartment at least once a week to assist her.  She worked all of her life in retail and as a result gets a small check from Social Security that barely pays her rent.  She's been told she'd ineligible for an EBT card because she still has a balance of about $15K in a retirement annuity. If it wasn't for me helping her with her bills she'd really be in a dreadful situation.  She isn't alone in this quandary and is like many seniors who worked all of their lives but were unable to save much for retirement or didn't have the benefit of a career with a pension.   When it comes right down to it neither the government or either political party really care about senior citizens. Being a transgender senior citizen merely magnifies the situation.  Depending on where in the nation that you reside obtaining quality health care as a transgendered senior citizen may prove to be quite challenging.  As I get older and closer to my own retirement all of this becomes quite apparent to me.

Yeah Mellissa my dad is in the same boat. I am getting close. I am lucky enough to have a business that I hope will help me but if not then...

I will never go into a nursing home. My dad wanted too and made my life a living hell until he got in. OMG I am so hurt because I tried to keep him active and on his own two feet but now he is in a wheelchair and refuses to walk even when he can because it is safer for the nursing home if he sits. ::)

At this point all we can do is our best to assist our elder parents and take care of ourselves.  I'm single and never had kids so I'll be taking care of myself for the rest of my life.  I make every effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating right, exercising, going to the doctor as needed, managing stress and exercising.  I recently began doing yoga which in a short period of time has really enhanced my balance and flexibility.

I know it's easy for me to say but try not to let your dad's poor decisions make you miserable.  Between my relationship with my mom and my gender issues my therapist and I always have plenty to discuss.  If you're not seeing a counselor regularly I highly recommend it if your insurance covers it and or you can afford it.  Working with a counselor that you trust and can build a therapeutic relationship with can be extremely helpful in helping you navigate some of the rough trails that we often find ourselves walking down.

I saw this MF sew a cut up after drinking quite a bit of whiskey and keep it clean with alcohol and H2O2 and now if he gets the runs he needs a doctor. ???

Yeah hon. It sux because I feel like I failed him :'(. Everyone tells me I didn't but I still feel as though I did.
