Hi leah ,Just say "I am a transgender woman and I need your advice " Then a say little about yourself give your age and location and how you discovered that you are Transgender. Then wait for a response. You will probably be asked for further information but that will start you off. This is what I did and I felt so much better once I made the first step. I had enough money to pay for a private counsellor so I did that as well . But the important step is the first one. I went through the WPATH route privately as it was so much quicker that the NHS and as I started at age 61 time was more important for me. By the way it is not as dear as you might think . The younger you are the less you will need . I went to PAI who aren't the cheapest but not the dearest and the whole enterprise for me came to £11,500  . That included SRS , FFS, air fares hotel bills , Hospital incidentals - pre-op tests - Meals were included in the Hospital fees . Returning home I also took a taxi from Manchester to Liverpool . If you look at PAI website they are up front on the prices of what you will need . If you only need the SRS it will be a lot cheaper. There is also some content on YouTube about DR Preecha and PAI . This is probably more than you need right now but you can start planning ahead and researching online and working on saving . You don't say how old you are but the sooner you start the easier it is medically. Hormones are a priority .

Welcome to the site.

Thanks for giving advice and offering your experiences. I do think it may be a little fast for someone on the first step but it is generous.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to look through them, please take a moment:

Once again, welcome to Susan's. Look around, ask questions and join in.

Leah,

I don't know if you got the help you wanted.

When writing or talking about yourself, it is good to be objective then add personal details. Start with some history. My first memory was from last year, ten years ago, when I was four.... Explain how you feel. As in why would you be prompted to write this letter. Be honest to them and with yourself.

Warmly,

Joanna

Good idea. Maybe even write one you don't plan to send. Then work with that.

Warmly,
Joanna
