So first I want to thank everyone that has posted/commented! I have received so much information and was able to decide on my SRS surgeon based largely on the information I received here.

Now, I would like some advice, tips, etc on how to prepare and deal with the flight home. My trip will be about a 5 hour flight in first class, however the seats aren't lie flat, as its domestic first class. Aside from a donut for sitting and wearing loose bottoms, what other things can one have specifically for the long haul flights home to bring more comfort?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!!

Hi Jasmine,

Congratulations of having made it through your surgery. I can't help you with recommendations as I have not made it to where you are yet. Sorry.
I just wanted to say hi and congrats and wish you an uneventful, not too uncomfortable flight home.

Hugs,
   Laurie

I don't know what the seats were like going, but if they were hard, possibly a foam pillow or a jacket that you can roll up and place in different locations. I returned to work at a desk job shortly after surgery and I found constantly switching between donut and not donut made me reasonably comfort. The donut gets uncomfortable after a while so sitting a while without it feels better. Hopefully you have a seat where you can stand for short periods of time to take all the weigh off your bottom.

Thank you for the feedback.

I have not had the surgery yet, its approaching very quickly, I'm just trying to gain more insight for really what is the only thing kind of causing me a little anxiety.

So if anyone else would give feedback on how they coped with their flights home, I would appreciate it!!!

I only had a short ride home but I used a chuck due to leakage and a donut ( get the best you can). Definitely darks colored clothing on the lower. I would check pads on an interval. Do not lift baggage and try not to walk a lot in the airport.

Chuck?

and yes, I plan on wearing black and I didn't consider pads, but will add to my list for materials for going home and of course the donut and no heavy lifting.

In regards to the walking in the airport, Ive read where some recommend wheelchair assistance, so I will probably go that route as well.

Thanks for the info again everyone!!!

So now I've returned homs, I wanted to add a little info for others.
First, for the plane, pain meds, pads, dark colored under garments, and a good seat cushion-donut was all I really seemed to have needed. I did have a wheel chair assistance but only used it once.

Now I'm home...bed liners/pads seem to be my best friend. I have light colored everything from carpet, bedding, furniture and the constant bleeding discharge has not been my best friend, but otherwise, recovery is going well, ita a bit of a mental build up to dilate but its getting done!!!

Hope this helps others!!!
