Today I had CT scans completed of my face & skull.  Dr Morris and Dr Schechter in Chicago will be consulting with one another to come up with a workable plan for FFS.  Hopefully we can get everything done in two sessions in this calendar year.

Very cool. Is that to determine whether you will need burring or type 3 reconstruction on your forehead?

Denise,

What is your opinion so far of Dr Morris and Dr Schechter?  They are on my list of possibles for FFS because flying to Chicago is really convenient for me, but I don't seem to hear much other than how Dr Schechter's office staff tends to be short with people.

Thanks

So far the staff have been good.  No complaints - sorta.  Lack of communications is starting to annoy me.
I was supposed to hear from the Dr's a week ago only to find that Morris was on vacation this week.  He is supposed to be in tomorrow.  I will wait until noon Monday to call and try to get an update.

People who have gone to him (I know a few) and people who know them both personally and professionally say that Schechter is THE guy you want for precise work.  He's very conservative and wants to get it right.  To that point he will be doing my work in two surgeries (at least that was the original consult).

I'll update you next week with what I hear back.

Well his staff isn't the only group with lousy communication in the medical world.  It seems to be more common than not.

However being a conservative perfectionist makes me very interested.

Update - NO DATE!  (Darn it)  Procedures, yes, when no.
Next step getting letters of medical necessity from Therapist and GP and get all the paperwork together for insurance purposes.  All of this (FFS and BA) should be covered by insurance.  So Dr Schechter (or his staff) has experience with this with my insurance carrier so they know the magic words/paperwork to use to get it done.  Once that's all set (it will be a few weeks) they will schedule a surgery date.

Looks like he will be able to do all the FFS procedures in one surgery.  Happy dance.  BUT the BA will have to be separate (not so much a happy dance) and will probably be next year.  For those of you in the US you know that means another deductible.  However the BA is relatively cheap compared to FFS which can run up to $100k for everything.  So I'm counting my blessings.

If anyone wants the full list of what's being done let me know and I'll post it.  That's one thing I like about Schechter's office is I get a summary of pretty much everything that happens at each appointment.
