Hi!

I'm just under 4 months away from vaginoplasty with Dr. Meltzer. I've noticed there isn't much posted about his outcomes..pictures or first hand accounts. Can anyone comment on their overall experience? Happiness of outcome, sensation, depth, esthetic outcome? I'm covered through Kaiser, otherwise I'd probably be going to Thailand for Suporn or Chettawut. I have two friends who've had their surgeries with him, both are extremely happy but its a small sample size, just hoping to hear from a few more people. thx!!

I have seen his work and met the man. I also had a discussion with a very knowledgable member and Dr Meltzer may be the best surgeon to see if you require a revision in the United States. Any surgeon who is able to correct other peoples mistakes has my trust and should I ever require additional work, he would be on my short list. I have two recent threads from people who have had surgery with him but there are others on the site who's surgical thread I am unable to find.

Try searching for "A collection of links to photos of SRS results". There's some Meltzer results there.

thank you for the links!! Still, I wonder why it's so hard to find posts on Meltzer? It seems there's tons on other major surgeons, Bowers/McGinn/Brassard/Chettawut/Suporn but relatively little on Meltzer..I wonder why considering he's been doing it for so long.

I know when I was in the hospital visiting, there were up to six girls post surgical. In addition, there were several who had undergone other surgeries that didn't require an extended stay. While Susan's is a large web site, many people never register and chose to collect information from the site without sharing their experiences. In addition, the links I provided were from memory. I haven't been on the site all that long so there could be other links I am not aware of.

A few years ago Meltzer was the absolute gold standard for surgeons. He was more expensive tho and had a longer waiting list.  His results were awesome (I've seen them personally) but he also does a two-step program so you need to go back for the final cosmetic touches. He does not take insurance and doubt he ever will. I would have gone to him if he took insurance. Also, I've noticed that generally people here either get GCS in the East or overseas. .

He's been accepting SoCal Kaiser patients several years now, that's why he's my surgeon. Kaiser West LA now has it's own in house trans surgery center so I'm guessing they'll be phasing out the outside contracting so I might be on the tail end of people who get to have Meltzer for GCS.

Happy for you that I'm wrong and he is now taking Insurance.  Good luck!

I'm a Meltzer girl, back from the turn of the century.  Even back then, he was considered one of the best in the world.

I'm very happy with my result.  Sensation is excellent -- especially clitoral sensation.  I'm highly orgasmic, and can enjoy multiple orgasms both clitorally and vaginally. My depth is over 6.5" and I've had no functional shortcomings other than needing assistance with lubrication.  I was orgasmic about 3 weeks post-op, and sexually active at 10 weeks post-op.  My only complication was a small hematoma on my right outer labia, which disappeared about 8 weeks post-op.

Aesthetics are very good, but not perfect.  That said, I haven't found any SRS surgeon's aesthetics to be perfect when it comes to the structure of the inner labia and how it comes together at a frenulum just under the clitoris; Meltzer's labiaplasty connects the inner labia to the clitoral hood, which itself isn't as well defined as I'd like.  But I pass in bed, so what do I know?
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

Hi Sophia, thank you for your input! I am actually a little worried about how he does labiaplasty/labia minora, I have absolutely no worries about functionality, depth and aftercare. The pics I've seen haven't been impressive looking as Brassard or Suporn but he's covered by my insurance so I elected to use Meltzer, but it has been kind of sitting in the back of my mind all along, the doubt about the esthetics of labia minora/clitoral hood. That said, the 3 people I know who've been to him for GCS are extremely happy, I also spoke with a female doctor who's seen his results, she said it was beautiful. I think if I were younger, in my 20s/30s, I'd pay out of pocket for Suporn, but I'm way past my prime, I suppose passing in bed is gonna be fine, at this point I don't need a state of the art vagina...at least that's what I keep telling myself!!

This is only anecdotal, but my electrologist works with post op's that need internal hair removal.  It is a fairly common problem, whether the person has had hair removal before or not.  All that to say, she sees a large variety of post op vaginas.  She thinks that Meltzer is one of the best for external appearances and consistency.

The only downside to Meltzer is that he does a two stage procedure, and he has a long waiting list.  But other than that, he is really one of the best.  I personally ended up going with Brassard, because of the shorter waiting list.  I am very happy with the results, but I was seriously considering Meltzer as well.

Hi Jessica,

Thank you for sharing that anecdote! I should ask my electrologist what she thinks, she sees lots of LA peeps, but seriously it's just good to hear positive info.

I did ask him at my consult why the 2 stage when everyone else seems to be doing single..he basically said he tries to do as much as possible in the 1st stage but wants to allow for proper healing and blood flow to be reestablished before full labiaplasty. The way he described it to me was it's almost a single stage surgery but with a built in revision.

If you want, you can PM me and I can put you in touch with my electrologist.

My electrologist has said the same about the results of Meltzer, Chett, and Suporn.  She's not impressed with Brassard, and I tend to agree -- the aesthetic around the clitoral area is fine, if a bit indistinct, but he seems to loop the inner labia between the introitus and the urethra, making the introitus look wrong.

If you do go with Meltzer or Chett, per the same electrologist, get started on bottom electrolysis immediately if you don't want a vagina full of hair.

I suspect it might depend on the material you have to work with and the procedure. Meltzer is aware of Biber's procedure and if your penis can provide sufficient material, electrolysis isn't needed for a hair free vagina. It's only  when additional skin is required that you have to go looking for another source. I would agree that if there is any chance additional skin would be required, electrolysis should be started as soon as possible.

My procedure gave me 6 inches of depth without electrolysis however I was having erections right up to the day of surgery keeping everything nice and stretched out. I hated the erection but they did serve a purpose.
