Question about UL

So this is kinda embarrassing to ask, but I am curious if any of you had occasional urinary incontinence BEFORE UL and if lengthening made it better or worse.

Can't really speak to the before aspect, but I will say that for the first few months post-op, I find myself not able to hold it as long as I used to be able to. I know that's at least partially due to being catheterized for several weeks and having to rebuild that bladder strength, but just something to be aware of as a possibility 🙂

Thanks for the info.  I knew it was a long shot, but thought I'd ask. Maybe some older FTMs or guys that went through childbirth pre-transition might have info.

I'm pre-op, and have concerns about this aspect---incontinence and bladder/voiding issues.  I've read that the total hysto can cause such challenges due to the void of those missing organs in the abdominal cavity.  And many FTM's also deal with vaginectomy, which also would create more void in the abdomen.  Any thoughts about this, guys who've been through the GCS front whether meta or phallo?

I have given birth twice. I also did a hysto 7 years ago. The best way to avoid incontinence is practicing your "hold-muscles". Don't know the english word for it. But "holding", contracting your muscles you need to relaxe while peeing makes them stronger and you avoid leaking. Practice several times a day. Everytime you remember to do it.

I'm pre op. Don't know if it is the same after op.

Absolutely, those Kegel exercises!  Thanks for your response Tony.  At 54, I've never even had sex w a male, so no pregnancies etc.  My hope is that they'll still be able to do the hysto vaginally.  I'm less crazy about laparoscopy, and def not crazy about the prospect of the abdominal thing, at all.  Thank you for sharing.
