Hey guys! So I am making this post for any who has dealt with a sudden ''popularity'' thing once they come out as  trans. I officially came out a few years ago and once i made a new account with new female name i got a lot of friend requests. I mean, a lot. Some of them where good friends i have known, some i lost contact with and regained and some i just met. However, there were also a lot (and I still get them) of people who not only did I not talk to, but they were also very mean to me to the point of bullying me. Many i didnt talk to for year obviosuly because of those reasons. Anyways, i made an offical FB account with me presenting as real self and lone and behold this people added me too. At the time my mind set was different and it was hard for me to ''reject'' someone. Fast forward 30 months later (and legit 30 months later to the day) it is much easier to say good bye. I got rid of that 2015 account and made a new one not too long ago. I have gotten some adds, most I accept because this time I am getting people who I was alredy on good terms with. Yet, however last night i got an add from this girl I went to high school with. In honesty, im not sure why she added me. We never talked in grade 9 or 10 and in grade 11 she was in this group of people that tried to ruin my relationship with me and my ex. They made life miserable in grade 12 when they harassed me and spread nasty things about me and who i am to anyone they know. Even spreading romours and gossip on twitter and such. I knew her brother before aswell. He is a transman who I first met in 2011 when he was living as a female. We lost of freindship tho, he became really annoying and weird for me. A total sjw on the whiney side.

Anyways, I am still bamboozled as to why she (or any other the others) would add me, or think I would want them around in my life. Isnt it just kinda stupid on their part? like you tried to make my life hell before, what makes you think I want anything to do with you now or later?

In general, people need to send me a message along with their friend request.

I'm an admin for several groups on Facebook and I get requests all the time for various reasons. If they aren't accompanied by a message or tagging me in a comment somewhere, they get deleted in 24 hours.

Anyone I knew in the past that I haven't bothered to keep in touch with is history. I'm not big on small talk or catching up with people, so adding them would be a waste of my time. Likewise for people I've unfriended for whatever reason. If I didn't see the value in their friendship then, it's unlikely any exists now.

People are nosy. Just say no to their requests.

This is very true. But hey, I am a girl ;).. i love my small talks and catching up with friends, but as a girl I have no time for peoples non-sense either. My thing is, and will always be why try and add me if you alwasy tried to make my life hell. And yes, most of high school was hell for me in one way or the other as it probably was for most on this forum. The people being nosy thing is probably hitting the nail on the head. They could care less about me and just want to see how my life is going just for the fun of it?

Idk FTMax, what you said does seem to make the most sense. I mean if i didnt like someone 5 years ago, and didnt make amends or make any attempt to do so  I wouldnt just add someone for the fun of it.

I have meet some of these people too!!! seriosuly, 3000 'friends' is a bit weird for me to swallow. I like my friends list small.

It is funny though. In grade 12 my ex and this girl i just mentioned and their friends tried to smear my name and reputation repeatdly and would always try and do something to me. Yet, I find it odd in hindsight that they never outed me. Around February 2010 I told my ex about my then gender questionings and how i do think I would be better off as female. I guess she forgot about it? but yea... still suprised that one didnt go around the school.

I was getting too many friend requests from soldiers in Afghanistan.  Facebook needs a "Who the hell are you?" button.  Anyway, I rejected all such requests and set my privacy settings to allow friend requests only from friends of friends. That has reduced the volume considerably.  I will accept a friend request from someone I don't know only if I totally trust the common friend.

So far, that is working.  I have one friend who has 1200 FB friends, so there is potential for weirdness there.  But I trust my friend and I haven't gotten any strange friend requests from any of her friends.  I have no trouble hitting the 'Decline' button if I can't see a good reason to accept the request.

Those are usually scams.

I think Facebook misspelled the term.  It should be an Acquaintances button.  If they aren't that good, unacquaint them.

It's funny how time dulls memories. A few years ago I went to my 20th year high school reunion and saw a lot of people that I didn't care for back in high school. I've let bygones be bygones and moved on. So did most people there. But it was funny how the circles of people talking looked exactly like it did back in high school years ago.

I have a medium size group of friends on Facebook but I only pay attention to 10 per cent of them. We'll see how many remain after I come out as transgender.

How I handle any friend requests on any platform... After coming out, it will be the same policy.

If I don't know you in person, as in associate with you... Or if you are not immediate family. Deleted without explanation.

In very narrow cases will I accept 'friend' requests from online friends. Out of nearly a decade on facebook, there's only been 3.

I've found this to be true: A lot of girls add other people on Facebook just to be nosy and gossipy and see what they're up to, not because they actually care for the person. Not saying this is why this girl added you but keep that in mind.

My general rule is, would I say hi and talk to this person in real life if I ran into them? If the answer is yes I'll add them, if not bye bye.

Just because you get a "friends" request doesn't mean you have to accept it.

I ignore most friend requests, and even if I accept someone, the MOMENT that person says something insulting or vulgar, either to me or about minorities, or even starts posting selfies, I simply "unfriend" them. If someone tries to post on my page against my will, I immediately "block" them.

As for people who ARE my Facebook friends, I feel sorry for them since I constantly post links to articles on LGBTQ issues, articles sounding the alarm on GOP doings, and many, many horse and exotic wild bird photos-both my own, and others.

But if they want to block my Facebook stream, it's no concern of mine. I just don't want to see hate memes on my page.

No.  The only one I'm on is LinkedIn.  Even there you get requests from people who have absolutely no relationship with you.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

That's where I put pictures of my dog and my food and sometimes my face.

I use Facebook and Instagram for different reasons/modes.  One is for the people in my life, family, friends, colleagues, etc.  I also am fairly active on a Makeup/Beauty Facebook group, and have become virtual friends with some of the girls from there.  As to Instagram, I don't care who "follows" me because a follow has zero obligation for followback.  So if people want to see my pics, go for it.

Another use is one that has been growing much more recently.  I use these platforms as a sort of all-inclusive journal.  I share my revelations and growths as they come to me, because I know there are a lot of people who go through very similar issues, whether they are trans or otherwise.  I make these posts on Facebook public, and the rest of my personal stuff is for friends only.  I have to be pretty vigilant about changing the privacy designation for each individual post.  As a result, I have gotten requests from people I have no knowledge of, and I just delete them if there isn't a connection.

I suppose I'm seeing myself as a burgeoning public speaker.  This isn't at all in an arrogant way, but it's just been developing.  So I make sure to monitor what I want seen by all vs. people I know specifically.  My Instagram is much wider, since I use multiple tags in each post, so different people will see a post for different reasons.  But I like it that way.  I realize I am not in the norm when it comes to that though

I have never used face book but I set up a Skype account to be used with Susan members. One of the first things that happened was for me to get contact request from many people that I didn't know. Most with the intention of dating me. I took a clue from how Susan set up her Skype account and changed my contact message to "Only known contacts will be accepted. Unknown contacts will be rejected. Tell me where I know you from." and that has pretty well eliminated the requests that I get.

When I first made my new facebook account I had over a dozen requests from random guys -_- All of them were from across seas lol. I just ignore the friend requests. The number slowly went down over time.

If anyone wants to add me feel free to :)

I dont mind adding, or being added people from Susans.. well within reason, if I talk to them or just like them then no issues. But its people who you had alwasy been not friends ot not liked before that just randomly add. Its weird
