New Here, and new in general

I am Cecilia.  I live in Central NY but was born and raised Downstate in Brooklyn.  I was born with a gender defect,  in that I was supposed to be born female.  I lived as a male from age zero until age 55;  but was a cross dresser from age 8 onward.  I have been married multiple times.  My first was in college and she left me when I came out.  Then I had a fiance who commited suicide at my mom's house shortly after I came out.  Then I got married again and came out but she did not approve and so I had to hide my life.  She died of cancer when we were in our 30s.  My final wife is my present wife and we have been married 20+ years.   I came out to her last year.   I presently am taking breast herbs and am meeting with my Transgender MD about HRT in August when she comes back from knee surgery.  I told her I want HRT and an Orchiectomy.   I have waited a long time to start HRT and do SRS because I am 6'5" tall and it literally took me 56 years to even start becoming comfortable with who I am when I look in a mirror.  Until that point I hated myself.  Now I just hate my boy parts but I am starting to like the rest of me. 

My hobbies include traveling, doing photography,  puttering around my woodshop, driving my ATV and my snowmobile,  target shooting,  and fishing (but I cannot touch worms and I need someone to put the fish back in the lake for me).  For work I am in the IT field.  I work in the consulting side of the house - helping large companies move their data centers to the cloud.  I am a protected veteran.  That's kind of all I can think of at the moment.  Oh -  I hate scary movies.  I only like movies where the boy gets the girl at the end.  And for music I like soft rock and folk from the 60's through present.   And a little country now and then -  mostly Willie or Johnny Cash.

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am 6'2" and I am not the tallest one on the site. There are others who are even taller than you so should you have difficulty finding stuff that will fit, just say the word. As for the remainder of your story, it's pretty typical of the members here. We come from different backgrounds and many of us have a wide range of skills. There are a few what do you do for a living thread and nearly every profession you can think of exist on the site. Should you need any assistance, let us know and somebody should be able to help you.

  I'm Laurie,MtF. You know your wait could have taken longer. Mine took 64 years.  Welcome to Susan's Place. let's see crossdressing- check, military service- check. wanting to be a girl from an early age- check. Oh heck with that. we have a lot in common but the best is the best one is that we figured out who we are and are taking steps to make our dreams come true. Welcome again.
