JennaFae

Hello to you all!

I'm JennaFae, 46 years young, MtF, who just started HRT 10 days ago.  I've bee reading the forum for a few months now and I can't say how much I appreciate you all.  You have really helped me with your wonderful posts!

I am soooo looking forward to getting to know you, and I feel I already do a bit from reading you on the forum.  I felt it was time to start to contribute in whichever way I can.  Being mostly alone all the time when I'm not at work is lonely and it's not by lurking that I will meet other people.  My dysphoria has turned me into quite a recluse and I feel like I'm slowly coming out of it.

I haven't come out at work and probably won't until it's very obvious but have told my parents and a few close friends.  So far so good!  I'm just going one day at a time with my transition and things will happen when it's time for them to.

Anyhow, I don't have anything else for the moment, but am so looking forward to mingling with you wonderful people.  Have a great day, and thanks!

Hi JennaFae,

I'm Laurie, MtF also and I will agree if you are on HRT it is high time you started contributing to the site. Though being on HRT is by no means a requirement to join and join in on the conversation. Being new to HRT and sharing your thoughts and experiences as you embark on this journey can help others as much as it will help you. So I encourage you to continue. And yes, my dear, it will help us get to know you as you'll get to know us. Welcome to Susan's Place and come on in.

  Hugs,
   Laurie

Hello Jenna and welcome!

I am MTF from the Western US.  I can see Seattle from my house when it doesn't rain too hard.  I started HRT before you did - six days earlier to be exact.

I am so glad you became a member of Susan's.  If your experience is anything like mine, you will find when you contribute you are contributing to yourself when you help others.  In other words when I think and write or respond to others, that process often causes me to discover new things about myself.  My initial lurking phase reminded me of television, watching what appeared on the screen.  Some things I saw were beneficial but then I decided to dive in and that was a great decision.  Being here is completely different - by signing up and participating you are part of an awesome community.

If you have already told your parents and close friends, Congratulations.  Some good stories on the Coming Out forum which might help you at work and other situations.  Don't pressure yourself too much - sounds like you are already making great progress discovering who you are and where you want to be.  I suggest you may also want to consider speaking to a gender therapist.

We always provide the following information to new members.  I found this handy and saved time when I began navigating Susan's, and I'll provide it here for you.

A Cautionary Note:

Baby steps Jenna. There is no timetable, certainly no rush. I began my process 10 years ago, and am 52 now...though I feel 10 years younger. Life is awesome when you you're true to yourself, and even better when friends, family and co-workers support you.
I'm in Ottawa...you are Eastern Canada? Like Atlantic Canada?

2008 - full time
2014 - GCS Dr. Brassard; remarried
2018 (January)  - hubby and I moved off-grid
2019 - plan originally was to hike PCT in 2020, but now attempting Appalachian Trail - start date April 3.

Laurie, thank you for the welcome, I agree, this is a great place to share personal experiences before and during HRT.  Reading posts on Susan's has really helped me alot to answer some questions I had.  I am looking forward to contributing my own experiences and "give back" to the community 😛  Have an awesome day!

Kendra, thank you for the warm welcome and the information links.  Feels great to be welcomed into the community!  I do see a gender therapist and it does indeed help a lot, it is a very positive and validating experience.

Kelly, SailorMars and NJOttawa, thank you for your welcoming words!  It's great to see fellow Canadians on here!  To answer your questions,  I am about 45 minutes away from Quebec City, so not too far from you guys.  So awesome!
