Surgery Dilemma

Hi folks!

I have a consultation with Dr. Hazen next week but I've been seeing so many bad results with her and lack of consistency I'm seriously thinking about traveling far, saving up and paying out of pocket for better results although I FINALLY have health insurance and it's stressing me out so, so, so much....

I didn't want to go to Garramone because of my politics but I love his results.
I'm considering Medalie and was considering Sassani but he makes you stop T and I don't want to stop T.

Anyone has gone to Garramone, Medalie or Sassani would care to share their experience and even a photo if you would like? Thank you so much, I'm a stress ball...

I am still presurgery, but I'll be getting mine done by Sassini. I will say that the transgender coordinator is very nice. They have been great communicating and working with me. My surgery date is Dec 12.

I would bring up your concerns at the consult and basically ask what gives. It will probably be better received if you can pull up photos of results that you would not be happy with and ask if stuff like that can be avoided OR how it would be handled if it did occur. I think a lot of times people post their early pics and end up having revisions, but don't necessary follow up with those. So that may be what you're encountering.

I've seen great results from Garramone, Medalie, and Sassani. And there are plenty of photos on Transbucket, ->-bleeped-<-, and Tumblr from each of them.

I personally don't encourage people to travel far from home for top surgery anymore. There are so many great options around the country currently that it seems like a huge waste of resources to travel. Many plastic surgeons are more than comfortable doing these procedures even if they don't advertise that they do them.

I live in Connecticut and I DEFINITLY don't want to go to NYC in order to have top surgery and then be just out of surgery and then have to travel 2 hours on a train to get back home! *shudder*

I found a local plastic surgeon that will do it but I was pretty worried that because they werent a popular big name in surgery like these folks, and didnt necessarily specialize on trans health that the results would be subpar. Plus I cant find pictures of their work online easily like other popular surgeons. However, I assumed that the procedure of removing breast tissue, especially one akin to minor gynecomastia, wouldnt be that difficult? Like surely I can trust them to do a task similar to removing tissue as they always do, and  he seemed knowledgeable enough on consultation, he pointed out even that I had pectus excavatum and that could be fixed as well. Besides that even my clinc doctor who prescribes me T suggested them saying that's where a lot of local trans males go so Im sure there's a good chance that this place will be fine.

I disagree with Elis, and I think you'll be absolutely fine WolfNight.

If a plastic surgeon can't give you neat scars and appropriately sized and symmetrical nipples, then they have no business in plastic surgery. The only thing I would check about when using someone who isn't known for top surgery is what their revision policy is. You want to find someone where revisions are free within a year if you are not satisfied.

I really hope this true. I live in Montana, so I'm hoping to travel no farther than Spokane or Seattle, but I'm at least 8 - 12 months away from top surgery at best, so I haven't started researching what's available in my neck of the woods. Hell, I just found a provider 90 miles that does any trans care, and I consider this a huge boon.
