Transgender issues should be taught in schools. This is a necessary step for gender identity. However, do you think that these should be introduced this early? I believe that everyone should have a sense of self-identity at an early age, but I am not sure if a kindergartener can already comprehend.

The reaction was too much in my opinion. Rather than pulling out, parents should have been more open through dialogue. A hasty transfer may also cause confusion. I hope this controversy does not cause negative implications to how the community is viewed.

I think if the issue will be encountered at that early age then it should be taught.  It is in fact encountered as some children are socially transitioning at that age. 

If some parents are uncomfortable with their children being taught that they should be kind to and understanding of others then it is a good thing for them to withdraw.

The sooner the kids are taught and open their minds to  gender spectrums, the sooner the prejudices of their parents will die out. We need more of this education, not less.

Now isn't that pretty much what I said? Only difference is that there are what 3 or 4 generations between our generation and their parents? All those need to die out for real progress can be made.

I fear you are right Dawn. Those days are gone. The pledge of allegiance is no longer taught and therefore there is none.

Along with it we've lost the old patriotic songs of my childhood. It's now another lost and perverted concept more of a divide than a pride.

I have to disagree with that.  Those people did not take a right turn.  Everyone else took a left turn and now the ones left behind are in a reactionary panic mode.  The right way though is probably not with the ones that turned left nor with the ones that remained in place.  The right path is somewhere in between.  Neither right nor left today has a monopoly on virtue.

Your first sentence is exactly the argument I've seen parents use AGAINST teaching it.

Right voted for Trump. Right wing is setting about taking peoples hard won rights away. I know the right has been on this path since Nixon. Left is for diversity, equality, LGBTQ, minorities. The right has swerved from it's Christian beliefs that all men are created equal. The left has not abandoned it's religious belief in favor of Charlatans and greed. Love thy neighbor as thyself,comes to mind. The right has taken up Nationalism. Left promotes diversity, job creation, workers rights, unions, tax reform that lowers the middle class tax burden and distributes it more fairly. Left is looking to keep the earth functioning right is looking for armageddon. So just where is the middle? I will not give up my liberal identity to promote hate groups, religious zealots as this was not the intent of the Founding Fathers.

Yup, and the reason being is because those type of parents create off spring for the purpose of creating, as Dr Evil would say ''mini-mes'' They want their children not to devaite or think on their own but rather do, look, talk and act they way they wish. So if a AMAB acts noticeably feminine or even if a AFAB acts too boy like then the clamps go down. They need to conform in their minds.

It sometimes isnt just LGBT related, I knew a girl back during my self discovery and eventual coming out time (2013-2014) .She year my junior and  who's father (who by her own admission was a hard core homophobe and even racist) would dictate what she will be doing at college and I believe she told me a story her father even wanted to buy her a cell phone, her first I do believe for her when she leaves Petawawa to go to College (or University) in North Bay Ontario but with a catch, that catch being that the phone has a GPS tracker so he knows that she will be in North Bay all the time and not going down to Toronto or some other place to party. She was 19 at the time and yes, I do believe they were an evangelical family. But it goes to show how much many parents dont want their kids to discover their own selves but rather, be subservient and be a drone. Quite sad actually.

  I, as you all know, feel as strongly about these issues as anyone else. It has caused some problems within my own family.
This topic especially can be provoking and because of that I would hope all of us can  re-read what we are about to post on it keeping in mind that we can discuss these things without stepping over the line. It's not about the religious or the divides of politics. It's about our children and our hopes for a better world someday.

That would depend on what type of people the parents are. I am aware of some that are open minded, and teach their children to think on their own, and not be haters. I also know of some that teach their children to be bigots before they are even old enough to attend school.
