I went to Cardenas back in February. The recovery house where you spend most of your time has a person at it pretty much 24/7 (its his house, kind of like a B&B). Tyler did visit, but usually on the weekends. Vecinte is his name, he speaks great english, and he's incredibly friendly. There are lots of nearby shops and places you can visit.. i saw a lot of americans walking around the city. I was personally far too tired from recuperating to try that though. Alot of the taxi cab drivers speak english, but if you carry a card showing where you live, they can help you get back home too even if they don't speak. Actually the city was amazingly.. far safer than many USA cities I've visited over the years.
I wish you best of luck on your journey. Guadalajara truly is a beautiful city, and Cardenas staff are very friendly and helpful.

Hello everyone,
In the next 30 days I might be heading to Mexico to get my nose done and some liposuction on my stomach. I have to admit I am nervous as I am traveling alone from Australia and will not see my two babies for a week (fulltime single parent) and they have not left my side since birth ten years ago. Also I tend to keep to myself a lot (introverted +9000) so I can come off as very quite often just sitting a lone reading or watching stuff on my laptop.
So I am wondering is anyone aware of how the recovery house works?
- Do Blanca, Tyler and gang hang around the house or is it pretty much you get to relax and only see other guests?
- Is there many places to see that are nearby that require a short walk?
- What is the neighborhood like?
- What are the people like there as I sadly only speak English and do not want to offend anyone?
It is going to be fantastic to start the physical changes in my transition even if my first surgery is a nose job and my stomach reduced.
Thank you in advance
