Welome to Susan's Place. Catheters depend on the duration of the surgery and your ability to move around after surgery. I had voice surgery which is a relatively quick procedure and I could get out of bed as soon as I was fully awake. I didn't get a catheter and I am sure of it because I woke with a really full bladder and I hadn't drank anything for almost 12 hours. Some FFS surgeries run up to 12 hours and for that, a catheter would be required. It would be best to ask your surgeon because without more knowledge about the procedures it's difficult to know the answer.
