Therapist surprised me by asking if I wanted her to write my letter to begin hormones.  We've talked about it of course,  but I wasn't expecting it until after new years.

Now to find a doctor that takes new patients and the new insurance that starts January 1st.

You're a lucky girl. My therapist promised me three weeks ago that she'd write The Letter, but she hasn't yet. I'll be an unhappy woman next Tuesday when i meet for our session.

Finally have the letter in hand.

At the next appointment after she asked me about it she said she forgot it and would write it and mail it.  Had another appointment Wednesday and it hadn't come yet.  She did print off a copy to give me right then but now the signed original came in the mail today.   Signing up for the new insurance this week.

Already checked and the first doctor I checked  from my list that will do HRT is in the plan and accepting new patients.

Yay for me [emoji134].

So I call the new doctor for a appointment and it's confirmed that she is in my new health plan, is taking new patients and does work with transgender.  Then the but.... she's not taking on any new transgender patients.  The receptionist put in a request to the doctor to  see if she would take me and/or ask for a referral if she can't/won't. I don't have any health issues so would rather just see one doctor but I'd be fine seeing her as primary and referring to specialist for the HRT.  Supposed to call me back by end of next week. Wait wait wait.

Ack!  Don't give up.  Sometimes I think these speed bumps are just tossed in there to make things interesting.  Everyone here is pulling for you.  You will prevail!!

That is so GREAT!

For what it's worth, I just got back from my new primary care physician to whom I was referred by my now former primary care physician in the same office. My new doctor seems to be the specialist in the office about Transgender Patients. It was just all about "Informed Consent", and an upcoming phone conversation with a Gender Specialist Social Worker in my health insurance plan. Then I will be good to go for HRT!

Oops!, one other problem. I have an issue of borderline high blood pressure that my primary care physician wants to get in check, possibly with medication. Remember that I am 64 years young and beautiful but I need to make sure my old person health issues are good to go before I can get the wonderful Estrogen that I crave so much.

No "Letter", just "Informed Consent with a conversation with a social worker", but darn it. I need to have my blood pressure within parameters before my really cool new doctor gives me the green light to HRT.

The good news:
The doctor will take me on.
The bad news:
Not until February 13.

More waiting but seems I've seen others post about longer waits.  No one ever did say it would be easy.
