Minimum age to start hrt

Yeah ive been getting told all sorts... youngest i hear is 12 but i also hear stuff such as 14 or 15 16 and others 18, anyone know a minimum for new york area? It would be nice to be able to start hrt before puberty actually ends

It would depend on your parents, and your physician. They really need to be on board if you want to start young.

Speaking for myself, I was not living with any family member at age 14. This was years ago and some of us got disowned and thrown out of our parents home. We had to fend for ourselves. I really think that we should be able to start when ever we are emancipated from our parent's authority. I knew what I was at age 14. I just did not know how to get help.

I have no idea if state laws are applicable. I just assumed that the standards of care for gender dysphoria would apply.

your familys can still disown you? I didnt know that, u thought it was illigal to kick a child out of the house till they are 18 or fully emancipated

I think it really depends on the Dr. The first Dr I saw at age 17 said he wouldn't prescribe hrt for me even though I had my dad's consent and he was there with me. The second one I saw and still go to had no problem prescribing hrt for me with my dad's signed consent.

I had also been kicked out at age 14. This was when I wound up seeking help from a neighbor. This got me into the foster care system. IMO, some people should not be permitted to raise children.
As per HRT, one could not start until 18, when I was growing up. Things have since changed dramatically.
