Hey there, I hear great things about Dr. Will Powers, who practices in Berkeley, MI.  He acts as many people's gp in addition to offering hrt.  Here's his bio:

There are a couple of other doctors in the area who are well known for working with the trans community.  I can ask people I know for their names if you like.

I'm sorry that Affirmations wasn't helpful . . . did they refer you to Transcend the Binary?  Their whole job is to get people hooked up with trans-friendly health care.  Here's their URL:

If you're under 30, then the Ruth Ellis Center might be able to help you with outpatient mental health services, including the writing of letters.  This is through the Second Stories Outpatient Mental Health Services Program:

Finally, there's RAD Remedy, which has a database of trans-friendly doctors in different areas, including Oakland County:

I live in Washtenaw County, but I know plenty of Oakland County folks.  Let me know if I can help further.

What insurance do you have?  A friend of mine sees Dr. Julie Mariotti in Royal Oak.  She's also a gp.  She takes a number of insurances, but not Medicaid, if that's what you have.  Here's her page, where she has a list of insurances that she takes: http://www.drjm.net/
