Day three after surgery.  Gizmo tubing shindig will be removed from main surgical area today.  I bet that isn't the correct medical terminology.  I'll be able to leave this room for short walks, haven't done so yet.  Feels like I experienced teleportation... woke up in this room and have no clue what the hallway looks like.  This is the nicest hospital room I've ever seen, although I haven't seen a lot of them - private room, several nice armchairs and a recliner, view of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale. 

Took a shower on my own early this morning and - wow that felt great.  Best.  Shower.  Ever.  And makes me appreciate what people go through who can't do that on a long term or permanent basis.  As someone who has run 3 miles in 21 minutes for a decade it's a bit surprising to have to walk across the room so carefully.  But well worth it. 

Although I haven't stepped outside this room I have never felt so free in my life.  It's not just the GCS, it's everything so far - the transition to who I am.

Yes Laurie, the bird has definitely flown the coop. Or is it a dog? Hmmm! I always pictured it as a dog. Don't be surprised Kendra if she shows up one day to collect the remains. lol I get the feeling that you are truly enjoying and appreciating this moment Kendra. It is more than just a surgery. It is a culmination if that makes sense. To me, a mental pivot point. I hope you will give in to resting as you need to. Overdoing won't do, you know. You have quite the schedule laid out for yourself, Girl, so behave at least a little. Long distance hug.

The view of the mountain was something I enjoyed when I was in for mine. It is a freeing experience and liberating because you're finally getting everything in place to be fully your authentic self. Congrats. Hugs

So good to hear that your dreams are coming true. Can't wait to meet you. Looking forward to Roslyn in March. I got stuck in a hospital room for a month. Unfortunately Tacoma is not as scenic as Scotsdale.
