My biggest problem is I live in a repressive red neck state

Hopefully not a bus driver in Chattanooga...

Pun aside, if you have a vehicle to drive, you can always try applying for a driving position with companies like Uber or Lyft, or with delivery services like DoorDash, Amazon, Postmates or GrubHub.  They're not going to make you rich, but they're generally easy to get in with, have an abundance of hours available, and if you dedicate enough hours, it would probably provide enough income to make ends meet.

Even $10 an hour x 8 hrs a day x 6 days a week = $480 /wk, $2,000 /mo,  $24,000 /yr

I know that income will vary depending on location, but as an example, (In WA) when I drove for Uber I averaged approx $19 /hr (after taxes/deductions) (up to 100 hrs /wk) and delivering for Postmates paid ~$15 /hr.  (I put in approx 60 hrs /wk)  I've thought about driving again here in FL, but I'm just wary of delivering food in a 2014 Mercedes and depreciating the vehicle value faster than the amount I would make.

I earn $11.45 an hour driving school busses, around 30 hours a week. During term time it's not bad. I haven't got to the first holiday yet. It's a step up from kiddie minding for 4 hours a day at $9 an hour without benefits.

Thanks Lily!!! It really is hard trying to get on because of it... I'm tired of my job and how stuck I feel... but it always makes me feel better to hear stuff like that!!!

tasha,
wow you are to pretty to be in construction c(=. like you i would not know what to do if not construction, and driving trucks would seem a good fit but that is out the question for me too. i would really like to know as well something other than construction. i think seattle would be a nice place but have no idea what i could do to make a living.
Lofl... Thanks!!! I haven't been on here in a while, so sorry for the late response. I am currently considering going into drafting/design since I've been drawing/engineering blueprints for a couple of years now. All I need to do is learn more universal software... And maybe get a degree so I can engineer other peoples drawings too....  By the way, pretty people can do lots of things [emoji8]
