I don't see why they can't do a recast with a trans woman actress that looks somewhat like Tambor.

She had FFS would be the storyline.

They do this on soap operas all the time...often without any explanation, but FFS would be the perfect explanation.

I  just recently started watch past shows. I think Jeffry Tambor does a good job in the role. I would prefer to see him continue but that is not to be. It will be interesting to see how they handle his departure. As far as the allegations is concerned I have no opinion on it as yet. The jury is still out so to speak.

I don't understand why they are talking about continuing the show without him, that is just a terrible decision. I saw a comment from Our Lady J (trans writer on the show) that said they won't let a cis male (that part left out of the pinknews article quote) bring down trans content. That is just being obstinate, and is a really bad sentiment to have from a PR and creative perspective, and it would be better to let the show end gracefully than attempt to shoehorn in a replacement or retool it. All of the big players in new TV and cable would fight over a new trans-centric show by the Transparent creative team, and they'd only be hurting "trans content" trying to hold onto Transparent, as the odds are not in their favor for it to do anything but bring them down with it.

On the contrary....  What do you think about killing her off in an act of Trans Violence?  Let's educate.  One more season to deal with the death and the reason would help bring light to the issue.

Oh, story wise it's not an issue and there would be a number of avenues. It's mostly a logistics issue behind the scenes. It is very, very hard for a show to survive in viewership when its sole lead leaves. It happens, but rarely, and often requires the show to have already been reliant on an ensemble cast in which the lead is nominal to begin with (CSI for instance). And in almost every case, even if it continues it will often be considered a shell of its former self(there are exceptions, such as Criminal Minds, which managed to continue upwardly after Mandy Patinkin left even if it is now mocked simply because it has ran too long). The problem is more pronounced with Transparent, as the entire premise is based around Tambor's character. Then there's issues when actually trying to write the character off, as you have to deal with irritating off camera deaths or posthumous references to an event the viewer didn't see or bringing the actor back in to work with people in a very bad situation that will be rushed at best. And there will certainly be stunt casting in an attempt to use a big name to maintain viewership, and that rarely goes well.

That's really only scratching the surface, unfortunately, as with what happened here (the star of a trans centric show harassing trans women specifically) the entire thing has tainted culturally. It's so much cleaner, for the viewer, for the writers, for the characters, to just start a new show(which any network would pickup in a heartbeat). They could even easily do a straight up spin off if they felt strongly about the need to maintain existing characters (The Closer to Major Crimes style as opposed to a single character spinoff like Cheers to Frasier), which can be far more elegant if handled right (ie: not Friends to Joey).

All good points.  I agree that a long time continuation needs to be a spin off.  I'm thinking use a look-a-like to kill her off in A 6 episode series finale.

Just random thoughts.
