Bacon can get pretty pricey here, luckily the brand I like tends to be one of the least expensive  ;D

When I was at Albertson's yesterday they had Farmer John 12oz bacon on sale for $6.49, down from 6.99.  What was weird is that I have the Just For You app and I got it for $2.88 which isn't as cheap as it was in Texas, but beats the hell out of seven bucks.

So, I bought me some quart Mason jars and have been crocking chicken, beef and broccoli and sealing it.

Pretty good.

Sometimes I get the cooked bacon, and it is rather good, with no cooking messes.
It is the Hormel Black Label thick bacon.  No refrigeration is needed prior to opening the bag of bacon.  Some of the warehouse clubs sell it.

What I like is that lots of the fat has dripped off by them cooking it prior to sale, and although for about $12 or so per 9.5 oz 72 slice package, considering you do not have to cook it, the price is very reasonable.  Amazon sells it for $5-6 a package more.

I am unsure how much 72 thick sliced pieces of bacon would weigh prior to cooking, but someone here might know.

Have you tried bacon as a topping for a vanilla ice cream sundae?  Not bad!

@ Davina:
I lke Lamb a lot... but not always the most prevalent thing in the meat section of the supermarkets here in the USA.   I like to make a classic Shepherds Pie that calls for Lamb....  I can make it with beef but then it is called a Cottage Pie....  basically the same dish, but just different meats and thus a little different taste.
