Just been having a great conversation with someone here and one of the things that came up was about learning stuff from YouTube and what went wrong, so for example I " learnt" to completely re wire a Land Rover.. which then nearly burnt my garage down. So I'm very eager to hear from everyone else. What do you regret learning from YouTube and why?

I like some of the videos about hacks. One of my favorites is the one where they take apart a car battery, and it is filled with flashlight batteries, a cellphone, and other electronic gadgets.
Ever since that, I learned to never take anything on YouTube seriously. No, I did not disassemble a car battery.    :)

That's interesting I haven't experienced this yet from youtube videos. I would be interested to know as well.

Repaired my dishwasher from a You-Tube post. When the service engineer came he said he'd seen other people do the same repair job from the You-Tube post and it didn't work for them either.

I wouldn't ever take anything on YouTube seriously.  Anyone can put a video on there and there's no way to tell if they actually know what they are doing. Though sometimes the videos are entertaining. I saw one video of hair hacks and one of the things they suggested for straightening really long hair was to lie it out on an ironing board and have someone iron it with a clothes iron. Oh yeah, that's a great idea if you want fried out nappy hair. It amazes me how some people think if something is on YouTube it has to be right.

The one thing I am thinking of is building a snow canon. You need a pressure washer, a compressor a few nozzles and a few pipes. As soon as it get's cold enough, I could make my own snow :D (also all from Youtube)

Blimey Sarah, do you think I could do that in Queensland if I hooked up a fridge somehow?

Disclaimer: Don't try this at home!

You pour liquid oxygen over the charcoal briquets.  The flask containing the liquid oxygen needs to be on a very long pole, with you as far away as you can get!  As far as I can tell from the videos, you don't even need a source of ignition: it seems to ignite itself.  The barbecue ends up as a puddle of molten steel.   >:-)

Um...why would anyone even want to mess around with something that dangerous?? That's just insane.

Prior to trying anything you see on YouTube, try ice skating with Rollerblades. It's safer.

Yep. Instead of shooting upward, it fell, spun round and covered everyone in syrupy carbonated goodness.
