Taste in favorite foods changing with HRT?

I'm 60ish and have a short list of favorite foods that are very important to my nutritious diet. Has anyone had their tastes change after starting HRT? Suddenly not liking some foods or craving others? Sorta like a woman during pregnancy  :)
For instance I love nut butters and spinach, and if I lost my taste for them there would be a huge hole in my diet. Not good.

Thank you!

Hi Lindy Lou, yes most definitely! I'm eating a bowl of raw veggies, anchovies, a bit of green apple, cheese( usually Parmesan), nuts  and sometimes other things with yogurt and that strong chilli paste ( sambal), dash of sherry vinegar and olive oil. I'm having this almost every day and either for breakfast or lunch. Previously I was strictly low carb and I still won't touch sugar in any form .  I'm also having a craving for miso soup high I add fish ,egg and seaweed.
Their are other posts on this but I'm rubbish at finding my way around sometimes on forums.
Apparently the salty cravings are common, spicy food too though I've always liked both, I'm eating less meat now for sure.
My  gp who doesn't understand hormones yet is pretty much cutting edge with diet and nutrition, hence my low carb ness. I get regular tests for zinc and copper levels and in a previous life we could be trying to keep my copper levels lowish  (and they were). Post hrt the copper is through the roof in the range of a pregnant female. So there you go, is it the high copper levels ? I'm not sure but particularly in the first few months ,when I've had to eat... I've had to eat😀

Absolutely. I used to love eating anything sweet (Nutella, cookies, ginger bread). Not anymore. A jar Nutella barely lasted two month in the past, now it lasts almost a year.

Anything salty is now high on the list due to Spiro. And Pickles.. completely addicted to pickles these days...

Broage, it does sound like you're eating well! I think I could eat any of this, except for the anchovies and chili paste.
Even the miso soup sounds good - with an egg, of course. I would actually welcome some new cravings. One can only eat so many slices of toast with almond butter :)

Thank you,
Lindy Lou

I used to love spicy and hot capsaicin rich food.  Not anymore.  The heat doesn't bother me, it just tastes bad now.

I've been craving Mexican food a lot more! I used to just think it was ok, I only ate it once in a great while, but now I eat it all the time, and usually with added hot sauce. I've always liked hot sauce on stuff and in stuff but now I go through a lot more of it. I still love sweets, that hasn't changed. I used to love bbq but now I still like it but I can't eat it as often. when it comes to meats I lean towards chicken more now instead of pork, and I've been eating more veggies as well

I think I've been enjoying food more since starting hrt a little over 2 months ago. I'm not sure if I'm eating more but I did cut out all meat.

Some fascinating responses here! It seems that changes in diet are somewhat unpredictable. As a daily dark chocolate eater I'm worried - I hope I don't lose my taste for it. More Mexican would be wonderful! I love Mexican, Thai too. And it would be okay to eat less meat though I'd hate to miss my occasional burger and fries. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I still have a good appetite after I begin, because I can't afford to lose a few pounds.

Thanks everyone :)

I get some weird cravings. Raw onions, pickles, pickled eggs, Pickled garlic cloves, green olives and Swiss cheese. Sometimes I make an onion & Swiss cheese sandwich. Right now I'm really into the pickled eggs! My family finds them nasty so I get them all to myself. I can also get into some Cajun style boiled peanuts. Oh yeah, and pickled beets.

Julia, it seems clear your body is craving vinegar! And maybe salt. This is quite a list: pickled garlic cloves, green olives, pickled beets and pickled eggs. My closest friend loves pickled eggs and she grew up in a farm community. I like most of these foods already so I should do well. And I love sandwiches made with green olives, cheese and mayonnaise. Yummy.

I had never heard of pickled eggs before. I ran across them at the store and because they were pickled I had to try them and loved them. I like anything pickled.
