Tall femme fashion — as in, really tall

Hi all!

I'm hoping to share tips on femme clothing for those of us who are... vertically gifted.  ;) As in, I'm 6'8" and wear a U.S. men's 14 - 15 shoe. So it was hard enough to find masculine shoes, but feminine shoes are nearly impossible except for some brands that cater to drag performers, etc. (meaning 6' clear platform heels, thigh-high shiny boots, etc.).

Back to the clothes, what are some brands you all have found to work for femmes / girls well past the 6 foot tall mark?

Also worth noting: I'm on the slender side, so going with XL, XXL, etc. ends up making me look like I'm in a tent. So I'm looking for tall, but not necessarily *big*.

I'm thinking about starting a FB page for this, so let me know if that's something you'd be interested in, too.

Thanks! 💖

I'll go first with a go-to favorite. An ex of mine turned me on to Long Tall Sally (expensive) and Alloy Apparel (much less expensive).

I love Alloy and have spent way too much money with them. Their returns can be a bit of a hassle, but they're the best shop I've found for tall, fashionable stuff. I mainly use them for jeans / pants / slacks as their tops still aren't long enough in the body in many cases and/or sleeves aren't long enough.

I've had good luck with JC Penny and Old Navy tall women's clothing, too.

I'm 6'5 and I'm not slim yet and even when I was in shape when young, I was 240.  I could probably be less now,  like 220-225, but I'd probably still be a 20-22 top and 18 bottom. I'm not long legged with a 34" leg inseam. Tall women's clothes tend to be longer in the hem and sleeves a bit, but don't really address longer torsos, especially dresses. Sumassura and eShakti will be where I go when I get to my goal weight.

I was 6'7" when I started transitioning and 255 lbs, about a size US 16 women's clothing and a size 12 in men's shoes. After a year and half on HRT the doctor measured me and I lost nearly two inches and I'm now a little over 6'5". I now also fit into a women's size 13 shoe as my feet did shrink a little as well. My weight has hovered from 255 to 280 and now back down in the 260 range. So give a little time and you will probably lose a little height and shoe size. I know a cis woman (she has been on TLC's My Giant Life and an episode of Grey's Anatomy) who is almost 6'9" and a size 18/20 in women's clothing and makes me look small. I've always had long legs and my inseam is 37/38".

Long Tall Sally has been my go to for tall women's clothing. They have a lot of clothing options that will fit you. They only go up to a size 15 women's shoe, but hopefully your feel will shrink some from muscle changes of HRT. Check out Tall Girls Closet for a lot of women's tall shopping resources.

Sydney, I have never heard this was a thing... I assumed height and shoe size remained the same because of bone structure. I'm just curious, did the doctor mention where the shrinkage (pun not intended) happened?

Not everybody gets smaller on HRT. In my case, I still am 6'2" high and unfortunately my feet have grown a size somewhere along the line.

I'm definitely self conscious of my height and shoe size... I've taken to comparing my height, weight, shoe size to tall models to make me feel better. Haha. But it still feels like I really stand out (pun totally intended this time).

Not everyone experiences it, but it's fairly common. Bone doesn't change but muscles do. The difference is caused mostly by the way the muscles change from estrogen. On testosterone, muscles tend to be thicker and bulkier and less flexible. One estrogen, they become thinner and more flexible. This change results in the spacing between the vertebrae to lesson with the effect of lowering one's height. With feet, the muscles are thinner and can change the size of the foot.

If you are younger, pelvic tilt can also reduce height. For some oddball reason (it could be because I'm intersex and a DES baby) I experience pelvic tilt at age 43 even though it usually doesn't happen if you are over 25 years old. Our bodies can be weird sometimes.

I'm a bit over 6'.  I wish I wasn't quite so tall.  My shoe size is a bit frustrating though.

+ for Long Tall Sally

And being 6'2", the thought of getting 2-3 inches shorter on HRT makes me want to start right away!
