So,
They f*ct up.

The Human Rights Campaign doesn't want to support Transgender people?

Then we don't support them.

F*#k them. Seriously. They do not deserve one dime.

If you want to support an organization, support the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. www.thetaskforce.org
They stood by us on ENDA.
Let them know we appreciate it.

Support our own Lobby Group the National Center for Transgender Equality www.nctequality.org
They deserve our money as they are a home-grown organization.

But the HRC?

IF you want to give them something, give them your middle finger.
Because they don't deserve much else.

Donna Rose and Jamison Green sent them a message. Loud and Clear.
We should do the same.

Money talks.

Let them know what we think they are good for.

Letting them know what we think is a good idea.  However we need to do it without inappropriate language or we don't help our cause.

Several GLB people I know have already voted with their pocketbooks. I hope HRC gets the message.
"Anyone who attempts to play the 'real transsexual' card should be summarily dismissed, as they are merely engaging in name calling rather than serious debate."

To mods:
If you want me to edit the language of the first post I will.
Pretty passionate, but not very clean.
It's not like people don't know what the "*" means! LOL
So yeah, I will do that if asked or preferred.

Agreed, Lisbeth.  Voting with the pocketbook comes first.  I can represent myself on the Hill more effectively than HRC ever could.

From what I have read there are several GLB groups who also don't like HRC.  It is my hope to find some through blogs like Pam's House Blend, The Wonkette, and others.  I'd certainly "throw in" with them.

When enough people sign the letters to HRC, Barney Frank, and others in the mix, the dynamic will shift from them to those who truly represent us.

I'm real tired of playing nice to people who suck.  Perhaps its time to cancel their subscription to the resurrection and tell these nice folks that its high time they did some work on their resume and get a real job.  Don't just stop giving money, transfer it.  Give it to the next group to the left of the one you used to shell it out to.  And send your old charity a photocopy of your check, to make sure they get the message.  And, like any good corporate communication, cc everyone in the entire organization about it too.

I found this excerpt in the blog, Pam's House Blend:

- From Donna Rose's blog: Thursday, December 27, 2007; 11:00 AM entry. Donna comments on a couple of very different political Op/Ed pieces that have posted recently. One was from Masen Davis (director of the Transgender Law Center), and one was from Vanessa Foster (director of the National Transgender Advocacy Coalition). Foster is quoted as writing:

...HRC is in the business of Political Management. It's not about advocacy or civil rights as much as it is about 'managing' the sociopolitical environment to help mold public opinion favorable to the gay and lesbian rights agenda. They have not just a desire or an addiction to control, it's in their very business description. It's their job.
Therefore it's easier to see why they feel need to choose our leaders for us, why they need to tell us what is inclusive language and how is the best way to achieve it, why they need to instruct us on what is politically feasible...

Rose, who previously was a HRC board member, stated in response to Foster's entire article:

...[Foster's] views are dead on. Or at least, they might be.

I'm not sure what to think of the HRC possibly seeing itself as my * LGBT Community Mommy * -- believing they know what's best for me and my * sibling * LGBT community members.  In my mind, that any organization may think it knows best for the entire LGBT community -- to the exclusion of all other orgainizations -- is a pretty disquieting thought.

The balance appears on Pam's House Blend blog.

Their world is ending.  Our is beginning.  The entire structure (if you have not been too busy with Brit and Paris to notice) is in collapse.  Time for a new start.

IF HRC is supposed to be the PR arm, well they're doing a piss poor job at it.
ALL PUBLICS are important in a public relations campaign including your own constituents.
Right now, it seems they're taking everyone that's not in leadership club for a ride,
exercising the worse political acumen possible.

The whole organisation risks imploding because of their sheer inability to communicate TRUST.
They've squandered all of it and now rebuilding is quasi impossible unless the whole leadership
resigns in a well publicized way. A bit like what would be done in a japanese organisation where
the leaders have lost face.

BTW, I'm doing a grad degree in PR and their doing everything counter to theory or practice in
this field. Whoever's improvising themselves as Public Relations in that organisation should be shot.

I feel the same, I am no longer supporting HRC. I support the other two groups and hope they are inclusive of the GLB. I know they are and I would think that PFLAG would get behind one of these two groups. I think HRC is history. With over 300 groups telling HRC they were wrong, you would think that they would have got the message. They didn't. They have their heads in the ground and have their earphones on high. HRC still thinks they have done a great job. I wonder what planet they are on?

There are two ends to the liberty rope. What if there was a law saying you had to hire a KKK member?
  •

Sheila

There shouldn't be any law that prohibits a person a job, because of what he/she does on their own time. If a person belongs to the KKK and does a good job at their job and doesn't bring their bigotry into the job, then what is the problem? I don't like what the KKK represents and would not associate with a person who believes in the KKK, but I would not deny them a job, that is discrimination.

mmm question and a half.

Could a KKK member represent a minority, a threat to 'the way' without prejudice?
  •

QuoteI don't like what the KKK represents and would not associate with a person who believes in the KKK,

But to hire someone you will work with is to associate with them. Especially in jobs that require teamwork.

How many of the right wing religious types work with you? I don't know what you do but there are many people who work on a daily basis that don't agree with their lifestyle or who they are. We want ENDA to work with us to have an all inclusive work place. The United States is built on an all inclusive place to live. I know that we have to prove that we are viable, but it will happen. The last place I worked there were people of religious faiths and there were people who dropped the house keys in the hat. If they knew about each other they would not have been friends. I knew a lot of people at my place of business that were all different, but my employer had a non-discrimination clause in their employee policy. Yes, I did know of some KKK people. They did a good job. They also worked along side some African-Americans. They got along.
