Forgot one nice thing that happened

For some reason when I ski, people mistake me for female all the time. Pisses me off. And I've been skiing all week.

Anyway, I'm a little tight for cash at the moment. In fact, I went on holidays with about $17.00 in my bank account, but payday was today. I went skiing instead of depositing my paycheque. So I stopped at the corner store to buy some groceries. Came to $17 and change. I tried my bank card and it bounced. They didn't take VISA, so I said, well put the bananas back and let's try that.

The store owner said, "I know you, you good man, you pay me tomorrow, that's ok". I tried to write her a cheque, dated for tomorrow, she said, "No, you good man, you come see me. That way I get to see you tomorrow. You man of word." (She is, by the way, Chinese and not stellar at English - in fact she tried to give me a lottery ticket instead of cigarettes)

I dunno about other places, but even in a small town, someone letting you walk with $17 worth of groceries and trusting your word that you'd be in tomorrow is unheard of. It's way cool being thought of as "man of word". Makes up for all the crap I've had on the ski hill all week.

(By the way, for those who are concerned this is sexist, I think she'd be the same for "woman of word")

Dennis don't be so surprised.

It's nice to find people who take you for "Face Value" :)  She is just a very perseptive person who can see the goodness in your heart.
