I had a dream years and years ago.  I was in a room and there were other people I know and I was trying to help them get out.  One said be quiet or she'll get you too.

In the dream I ignored it and zap, I was standing there naked with complete female attributes.  Must have been in one of my other universes.

It blows me away when I think of our decisions as each being a different road leading to a different reality.

There's a part of me that really wants to believe in parallel universes. I frequently have, what I call (I'm sure there's a more sciency word for it), Deja Vu moments. I'm out with friends or at work and suddenly be like, "Whoah, wait, I've had this conversation with this person at this place before. But we just met last week. Whaa?" Sometimes I can even recall specific details, like background stuff, or what someone was wearing.

What's really freaky is, I used to have reoccurring dreams about a woman that seemed meaningless at the time. But recalling them now, I recognize that was a perception of myself as a woman. Subconscious trying to wake me up?

I know it's, more than likely, just my mind playing tricks, but who knows. Just additions to life's mysteries, I suppose.

I have had more Deja Vu moments than I care to remember.  Scientist or shrinks have a cause for it and say it's just are brain farting for a second (of course there's is a little more technical).

I, however, don't necessarily follow that train of thought.  Deja Vu, like dreams to me are sometimes connected.  Years past, when under a great deal of fear or not being certain I have had dreams of the outcome every one has come true, usually positive stuff.

I definitely think there's more to dreams than just our brains at play; at least sometimes.

I seem to recall reading something that proposed just what you said; that dreams are our brain's way of mentally preparing us for, or helping us cope with, stressful situations.

Maybe our brains being able to predict the future isn't so farfetched. Chess pros can make educated guesses and predicted another player's moves, even out past a few turns if they're really good. Maybe dreams can work the same way? They passively absorb data throughout our lives, follow a series of if-then arguments, and piece it together as best it can (missing information or uncertainty about a situation could account for the amount of abstraction in a dream).

Granted, this would mean that there's room for a fair amount of error, but also a chance at getting it right from time to time; maybe some more frequent than others.

Your comment "absorb data throughout our lives, follow a series of if-then arguments" automatically threw my mind into seeing binary code, lol.

There have been a few times and this is before Avatars, that I thought, wow, why if?  we were avatars for the entertainment of some other life form where they get an avatar at birth and play it for whatever the lifetime is of the avatar.  Then get another one???????????????????////

My pill pusher (psyciatric nurse) is interested in my dreams. Apparently Zoloft (sertraline) can cause bad dreams and hallucinations. I did have a strange one this morning. I described it in my thread.

As a result of two LOD injuries, I was prescribed pain meds.  While some of the meds worked, I avoided taking the prescribed amount because it would give me crazy dreams.  While I believe that dreams can provide insight to many things, I avoid pain meds because I dislike nightmares that they may create.  I have had nightmares in the past due to other reasons so I don't need extra ones :)
