So I was sitting at a hotel bar tonight to grab a quick snack. This bald overweight guy takes the seat next to me and puts his phone and iPad on the bar. Starts watching some odd Bravo TV show. So far so good. Then he picks up his phone and starts looking at D*** Pics. Seriously? Aside from making me insanely dysphoric, does he think this is a way of hitting on me?
I have some 45 years of tragic experience as male and did watch a fair amount of adult videos, but never at a bar with people around me. That is just so wrong... What's wrong with people???

Guys like that have always existed.  Today's political environment has made it ok for the ones in the gutter to climb out

It could be that he was just not aware of his surroundings because he was intoxicated or just not thinking with his head.

If you were offended, just move away a little bit. No need to get personally involved. Let the bartender handle it.

So, he was looking at pictures of penises. It is possible he is gay, or bisexual. Either way, that is a huge turn-off.

I know guys tend to love pornography. There have been times my hubby asked me to check something on his tablet, only for me to see pictures of naked women. I found it offensive, and showed him how to close out that stuff, so I won't see it. If I found out he was looking at naked guys, he'd be out the door.

I agree with you public places are not some where were you should view pornography but some times it does come in as a text message and you look that does happen

You said it yourself, you've never had this happen before. It's not guys, its just that guy.

No it's a fair subset of guys. I'll be forever appalled at the crap men used to say when they thought I was one of them. Sure some guys any would expect that from. It's the ones that were always well behaved when the women were around and then proved themselves to be utterly sexist / homophobic etc when they felt it was safe to express that.

Not most guys, but more than just that guy.

What I want to know is how did the dick pic ever be come a thing?  I like girls still so totally don't understand it.  Did it actually work on a girl once?  Pretty sure that if I was interested in guys I still wouldn't want to see that, not even from someone I was dating.

How did the dick pic become a thing? Same as the boob pic or any other body pic I imagine. Phones suddenly had cameras, people started flirting or doing stuff with it the designer probably never imagined.

Seems pretty stupid to me to keep/send nude pics on your phone but hey, people apparently do it all the time.

If a guy sends a dick pic to someone he's going to be a certain type of guy to begin with... maybe the type who thinks the most efficient way to flirt for his personality type is to fling photos of his penis around, and the people who will be instantly turned off will run a mile while the ones who are impressed won't. So then he doesn't even have to waste time getting to know people? I don't know. Sounds an unappealing individual tbh.

Unless you're already dating the guy and he's trying to spice up your work day or something.

Guess I just can't believe it actually works.

I suppose it only had to work one time and he told all his friends and they told all their friends etc....

Some guys are just kind of piggy. There is this old guy that lives down the street. He's about 80 I think. He totally looks like the typical grandpa and could play Santa at the mall. In the spring when it's nice out he sits on his porch and watches porn on his phone. How do I know this you ask? Because he has the volume as high as it will go. Many times when I've been walking Zoey and passed his house I could hear it. There's no mistaking those noises. I guess he doesn't realize everyone can hear it. I wouldn't have thought someone would still be interested in sex at that age. At that age you couldn't tell an orgasm from a stroke.

oh man, one time when i was coming home from school a guy opened his phone and started looking through his own pictures in front of me. he hadn't noticed i was there, and when he realised he was so painfully embarrassed that while he apologised he honestly looked like he was going to cry. i get the feeling that sometimes people get so absorbed in their phones that they forget there are other people around them. if the dude doesn't realise you're there, i'd recommend just politely tapping him on the shoulder, expressing your discomfort and asking him to refrain from doing it again. if he had realised, then just drop kick him in the face, because that's gross and not at all ok to do to anybody! nobody should be looking at that stuff in public, but in this day and age, a surprising amount of people just forget.  :-\

I'm a bit voyeuristic I'd take a little peek if it's in person but I wouldn't do anything lol

Uh, I wouldn't suggest drop kicking anyone in the face for looking at porn on a phone. You'll end up in prison.

This entire event took an interesting turn for me.

I did post about this a few days later on Facebook since I was still pretty upset about it. One of the managers at my customer (who actually booked the hotel) saw it and got all kind of people involved, including their HR and they wanted to make a big deal out of it with the hotel. I ended up not pursuing it since it was such a minor thing and in general the hotel has been great...

Really glad to know they would have my back! They could not do anything, since their HR is not responsible for me but still...

Anyways, I am mostly over this incident by now.

well, obviously don't assault them, but i think you're well within your rights to call them out for being gross.
