I can see why, but whenever I hang out in cemeteries I always feel kind of comforted. The dead are not threatening, they don't mind what I'm doing or why I'm there. They've gone back to wherever we came from, and everything about the whole thing and the whole place suggests it's far more peaceful than this life. Being forgotten used to be something that terrified my brother, but it never seemed to bother me. Everything is eventually going to end and be forgotten so it just makes me think it's all the more important to live life in the now for its own sake, for the simple experience of it. A spark from a fire doesn't live long but the fact it exists at all is amazing, and that it doesn't last doesn't change the fact that it can and does burn bright for a few moments in the universe.

Cemeteries do make me think about death... but I can never feel too sad about it when viewing it as a big picture.

both of those places you posted look really cool! and yes, I agree with your views, I feel like cemeteries are peaceful  but also a reminder that anyone can go at anytime, so live life to the fullest! I don't think these people are forgotten, far from it actually, I've learned about a lot of cool people just by seeing interesting stones and then googling them! They make me feel more connected to an area after seeing where the founders of any given city are buried, it's cool to see the work they put into it. The historian that I met yesterday said that the first settler of the town was actually a teenager! I study local history a lot so I always really like seeing names that I've seen on old businesses and it's cool to find people that have streets named after them

My Mom and Mother in law took a trip up to Boston to do research for their genealogy hobbies. They did some tombstone tracings. They found some dead relatives and some live ones. They realized that there were three brothers in Marblehead who turned out to be cousins of my mother in law. They went and had dinner with them at their house. The funniest thing about it was that they lived right next to my best friend from high school who I knew from Long Island 40 years ago. Moral of the story is you never know who you are going to dig up in a cemetery.

I've always thought cemetaries were cool. But my brother has always found them creepy. Whenever my dad took us to the cemetery when we were little he never wandered off like I did. He stayed close to my dad. I loved sneaking up on him and scaring the crap out of him. Lol, fun memories.

Just be sure to wear a flowing white dress while roaming cemeteries. See if they run away, or just start taking pictures.

We like the old, pioneer cemeteries. The markers often have interesting bits of history about how they lived/died.
It is the history aspect, and the discovery of the source of local place names that attract us.

Thanks for all the replies! I didn't expect this many lol!
That one in LA sounds amazing! Have you ever found any paranormal activity? I've never had any paranormal experiences but I really want to. I'm part of a group that explores cemeteries together but so far we haven't done any ghost hunting, but it's something I would like to get into

yes, please post them, I'd love to see em!

We've found a few things.  In cemeteries it's mainly been audio stuff that we discovered after we had already left.  I did have one good experience in this old cemetery in town.  Saw something and heard something at the same time.  Most of the stuff we find is audio in buildings and such.  We have a few pictures of what we think might be a ghost.  Only video we have is from one of our devices going off on demand.

I have a reservation in Riverside CA where my wife is buried.  Not sure how it will look with us both there and how the tombstone will read:

Not sure what I'll have on my headstone or where, maybe Arlington but I'm not real big on that idea really

I luckily was too young for Nam but we sure had some fun playing in the sandboxes and a few other places LOL

If I was a ghost I wouldn't hang out in the cemetery.  That would be boring. I would want to be around people so I could mess with them. What's the fun of being a ghost if you can't mess with people and scare the crap out of them? Lol

Julia, sweetie, ghosts operate on a different time spectrum than us morals so they never get bored :)
