Fannythefroggie

Hi all. Basics: 66, from the UK and living in France since 2006 with my female partner.

I had grs with Tim Terry in Leicester in 2001 and absolutely no problems since except that over the last couple of years I have developed a perineal hernia.
I saw a surgeon here yesterday who has proposed a procedure involving taking the gracilis muscle from one thigh to reinforce the perineal muscles and removing most of my vagina.
Well, as a 66 year old lesbian for whom sex is not the most important thing in the world and bearing in mind that my clit functions very well thank you, I am less worried about the loss of most of my vagina than my partner who knows what I went through to get it in the first place!

So, I'm basically asking if anyone here has had experience of a perineal hernia and with what outcome?

Hello Fannythefroggie, welcome to Susan's!

Sorry to hear about your medical issue - perineal hernia - and I admire you are handling this so well.  I don't have any suggestions on that specific issue, but you may want to post to the Post Operative Life forum in case others may have similar experiences.

In my opinion you are young at 66.  With advances in medical technology and careful health decisions, I wish you many years of continued adventures.  Glad you're here, and looking forward to seeing you around Susan's.

Welcome!
