Hello to all on the forum,
My name is Deanna, I am a 53 year old transgender woman putting the peices together and forming a plan for transition. I have a fully supportive wife although have not come out to family or friends.
I'm hoping to find and give support on the forum through my journey and I look forward to posting.

Hello Deanna, welcome to Susan's!

I am MtF in the US (Seattle area), great to see you here.  You are fortunate to have an awesome supportive wife.  When you come out to friends and family you will discover who your true friends are or whether any were just acquaintances.  When I did this I found the ratio far more positive than I'd expected.

Best wishes on your journey and with the right planning you will do well.  I'm glad you will be able to draw from the experiences of others, and share yours.

Since this was your first post I'll add information we like to provide to new members - to help with initial navigation and site guidelines.

Hi Deanna!

Welcome.

Chrissy
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Hi Julie, Jessica, Chrissy and Kendra,
Thank you all for the lovely welcome.
A little more about my situation. I'm currently in weekly counselling sessions which are very helpful. Even though I know who I truly am it's good to have someone to discuss decisions with etc.
I am UK based and have had discussions with my very supportive GP and currently awaiting my Gender Identity Clinic referral.
Electrolysis for facial hair began at the start of the year, ouch pain and ouch purse!
My only hurdle is an very elderly family member of my wifes who "wouldn't understand" and with whom I have a very close relationship, so HRT and coming out will have to wait!
