I have been watching my friend's kids for the past week.  The parents knew me in the military, and their kids only know me as Victoria.  They were so sweet all week.  My friend got home from Texas early this morning and when I got up there was a brand new hair dryer and towel sitting in the bathroom on display as a thank you gift for helping them out.  I feel so loved.  :D

I'm sorry Victoria, I have to ask. Is there a hotel name on the dryer and towel?

Very small thing, but a big step for me:

I took the bins out, wearing heels, a wig, a dress and a face full of makeup. My first real time out of the house presenting as female ;D (albeit just for a few seconds)

That is NOT small!  That's huge and wonderful!

My sister told me my complexion is light and I'm glowing. She also said I have really nice curves. I'm shocked. My brother said my nose fixing itself is a miracle and it looks a lot better. I guess this is a very shallow update

I went to my first laser appointment. The lady seemed surprised that I didn't flinch. I was thinking, "Hun, I'm here on purpose. I don't care how much it hurts. This is gonna happen." All in all, a positive experience.

Funny. The person who did my face apologized every time she took a swipe.  My reply was similar - I'm paying you to do this - keep going.

Keep in mind they will increase the strength.  I suggest getting some 5% lidocaine (Amazon.com) and put it on about an hour before and about 40 minutes and about 20 minutes before the procedure.  It helps.

I just found out one of my favorite journalists, Charlie Jane Anders, was trans.

I stayed home and slept in quite late. Then sat around with my wife and binged on Netflix. Sometimes it's nice to have a totally, 100% unproductive day!

I'm happy today because, although I don't pass, at work several strangers gendered me correctly -- including someone from the Middle East, who I assumed would look on me with disgust because of the male-dominated culture over there. Sometimes people are so nice.

Good for you Ann!

Well, maybe he wanted you to be a belly dancer or expected you to wear one of those cover your entire body things.

Which, has me thinking ======

Transgender women in the middle east most likely don't get called out?

So the good news on the surgeries continues.  My "calendar" is totally booked with pre-paid trips until September 15.  So I called the Surgeon's office and they tell me FFS in September will be good and SRS in December will be good too.  He's currently booking for June and July.

I love it when a plan comes together.

@ Denise:  That is very good news indeed getting your surgery appointments solidified and on your calendar.
The wait will be difficult to deal with but you will be so happy when it all happens.
Happy for you, and Hugs

This actually made me happy last week...

I went to my doctor for my last post-op GRS follow up and she told me I am healing well and there are no issues. She lifted all restrictions, yeah, so I can take hot tubs again. :)

She also touched my clitoris and noticed my reaction, yes it works. <3 I was thinking, that's not fair. It take her 1 second to find it and me months. :)

On the way home I cried from both happiness that I pretty much completed my transitioning and from sadness b/c I am not going to see her as often anymore. I am very terrible in goodbyes.

Here's a selfie of my DR. and me:

Well, she should find it quickly: I would hope she'd remember where she put it!

Congrats on the clean bill of health!

Slightly racist.

Iran, as one example, actually provides full funding for trans surgery. I've travelled quite extensively in the Middle East and don't recognize stereotypes of belly dancers or burkhas.

There may well be Middle Eastern people reading this for support and they find their society written about in these terms instead. Those countries don't tend to have Western notions of sexuality (although they are certainly extremely binary when it comes to gender presentation) and I'm not sure they should.

It's so great to see you living your life and making changes at your own pace, in the direction you want to go in - that's made me happy. I remember talking to you here two years ago and I hope your Erasmus year was a great success, and that you have luck with whatever else you end up doing.

It wasn't intended to be racist and if I offended anyone, I apologize.

And as it is beginning to turn out created a venue for education.  I did not know the things you are explaining now, thank you.

I shouldn't have been so sharp with you and I apologise. I hope you had a fabulous day, and have another fabulous one tomorrow.

Thank you.  Everyone's entitled to their opinion and freedom of speech for most.  I did google your comment regarding Iran providing Trans surgery and yes they do.  There's obviously more to it than that of course.

I think it's awesome that you are well-traveled - in my past life I spent some time going places but never the Middle East.

Have a great day!
