OMG, just reading the description skeezed me out. Ewww! Nasty!  Isn't that something Scottish people eat? Or is it Irish? And I thought Aissies ate some weird stuff.

I think Scottish.

There are a lot of unusual foods.  Some cultures cut up live frogs and fish and octopus and customers eat them while they are alive.  Seems very unkind and gross.

Then there are the bugs people eat.  Also Scorpions, tarantulas, whole fruit bats in soup, and the bird saliva in bird nests.  Plus Kopi luwak, the coffee beans that are are pooped out of civets.

Gross stuff, but some people like some of the above.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Me too.

People eat odd things.  But, if you were a member of their society and were raised with these "odd" foods, maybe they would not be odd at all, perhaps even a delicacy.

A sheep's head does not sound appealing, for example.

Leftover animal parts, such as pig's heads and feet, for servants by slaveowners were eaten because they had to eat something they could get ahold of.

Haggis is a pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs); minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, traditionally encased in the animal's stomach, although now it is often in an artificial casing.

I do not recommend it.

I think that this along with Escargo would never reached my tummy.

Daal is spicey Indian lentils, beans, or peas.  Burka is a specific preparation (recipe) of the split lentils.

Most hated would be broccoli and mushrooms.

Not crazy about most seafood but will eat a few shrimp sometimes and battered and deep fried fish (think fish and chips) is good.

Mayo is not necessarily hated but just pointless.  There is never an amount that enhances.  It's either unnoticeable (then why is it there) or else it overwhelms.

Just a dab I guess is okay for mayo, in some situations.  Maybe when making horseradish or another sauce?

Mayo has about three times as many calories as ketchup.

I had some for the first time at a Robert Burns dinner last month. It wasn't bad.

Robert Burns, the poet?
According to my sister, he's an ancestor on the maternal side.  He may be - definitely got around!

From my limited (?) experience, while bacon is a cured-all for pretty much all maladies, tripe acts like a mushroom and sucks up the alcohol. :)

I will give tripe a miss, as a kid growing up in Lancashire in the 60s UCP tripe shops were allover the place. My mate's granny used to love the stuff, her house smelled awful from cooking it!

Hate is a strong word, but I must confess that I will NEVER willingly swallow a piece of meat!  Not red meat, not poultry, not seafood, and nothing in between.

After 33 years, I'm pretty sure the vegetarian thing is not just a phase.

Hugs,
Miharu
