I'm going on a teambuilding cruise with my co workers today. It's a 24h cruise.

I am going to wear my binder and black shirt and black jeans for dinner. I've packed my stuff. But as time gets closer and closer for departure....I get more and more nervous.

Maybe it's a bad idea. They don't know me as myself yet. Maybe I get questions and I don't know how they will react. But....BUT... I don't own womens clothing!

We wear working cloths at work. We all look the same. So noone has seen me in private. Or some have seen me maybe twice in a year. On x-mas dinner I had a t-shirt and jeans.

Maybe some drinks will make the fall softer. I am not going to drink any alcohol, but the others sure will.

So here goes nothing!

I'm coming out cruisin'.

I'll write again tonight or tomorrow. If I survive this nervous breakdown.

Good luck Tony!  Just own who you are without a second thought and enjoy the dinner and cruise!

Your friend, Jess

Thank you.

I'll own who I am. I am nervous. hahaha. But I guess it will pass. I was myself with the company's board when I met them. Why should this be any different?

Your nervousness beforehand is totally understandable.  I had hesitated on things like this and the outcome was very positive and validating.

You won't be the only one there with a new look.  If your co-workers have only seen each other in work uniforms, everyone on the cruise will be going through a bit of a reset - ranging from mild and boring to people who are really taking charge of their life and future, like you.

I think you'll do great!

Oh boy, I can definitely relate to the nervousness.  Though in your case, I've got a feeling that the reaction from your coworkers will be similar to that of your family.  Along the lines of "yeah we noticed a while ago."

But of course that does nothing for the jitters.

Best of luck to you and I have to say I like this plan of yours.

It's normal to be nervous.  But you've got this!  Just relax and be yourself.  That's what it's all about, being yourself.

Yaaaay. Noone said anything. They treated me like normal. Like noone noticed. Noone raised an eyebrow. I wore a white t-shirt, black shirt, black jeans, and my hoodie. And my binder.

I was dragged into the girls restroom by a collegue. Two girls in there reacted and was about to say I was in the wrong place until they heared me speak. Damn that voice.

I can do this. I'm on the right track.

Sure. Swapping is good. Haha.

They are all drunk on their ass. Truths usually come out in that state. But nothing. Not even a question.

I was in the girls sauna. Because I'm pre op. The lady at the desk first gave me a key to the mens locker room. Then she saw my chest and said "sorry". Half Win.

When I was done showering and had dressed, putting waxe in my hair a woman stepped out of the showers and stared at me for a half minute before she dared to step out. She also took me for a guy. Win.
