Hello I am overweight 240 pounds at 5 foot 5 inches. I am just wondering if I should start hormones now as I really want to jumpstart my journey or should I put a hold on it and wait till I lose a lot of weight like at least until my giant beer belly doessnt hang out any longer like 170ish pounds? And would starting hormones now make it harder for me to lose the weight? Thank you all so much for helping me out!

You will hear and read that losing weight on hormones (E) is difficult.

For me I used the carrot of hormones while I was losing weight to keep me motivated.

Hi Jenn, I'm pretty close to your weight and 5' 7".  My weight really hasn't changed and I've been dieting.  While I feel lighter in some areas, it may be water retention due to so much salt because of the Spiro.  Even bought a mountain bike which I am slowly beginning to ride but my legs and buttock tends to start hurting really quickly.

Personally, I think the weight while important, is outweighted by what your girl wants to fix things.

Dieting is always hard.  Best of luck and please keep us posted.

What age range are you in? That could affect the speed with which you're able lose weight and that added with the feeling of purpose might be enough. Good luck at any rate.

I did not find it hard to lose weight on HRT.  It wasn't easy, but it was no harder than before HRT.

Deborah, I meant to mention this but my mind sometimes is like a 45 record with scratches and misses sometimes, but your new avatar is really nice.

Hi Jennifer, I lost about 60 pounds before starting HRT through diet and exercise, since starting HRT I have found it more difficult, but I think you have to have the image of the woman you want to be in your mind to help keep you motivated. Dieting isn't easy at any time.

Cassie and Sonja,  thank you for the compliment.  It's taken three years but I think my hair is finally getting to where I wanted it.

I started off at 275 on 12/07/16 and am now down to 215 and still dropping. I found it not difficult to lose the weight as I finally gave a damn about me. I told my partner the fat shield needed to go and had the motivation to hit 220 for gcs. Changed my diet a bit, no longer stress eat and a large pizza is no longer a snack. Start your HRT when you feel it is right, you will know when no one can tell you. Best to you and your journey.
